Strade bought him a beer and, after listening to Ren mope about how lonely he was and how much his life sucked, Strade spilt a drink on Ren and took him out the back door under the guise of getting him to the bathroom. It was around this time that Ren's fox ears and tail popped out, immediately catching Strade's attention. Though Strade initially planned to murder Ren, the beastkin was so spineless and desperate to please that Strade became attached, prompting Strade to make a special shock collar and keep Ren as his pet. However, this lifestyle eventually came to an end when one of Strade's captives managed to attack him, stabbing him in the neck. By the time Ren came to check on the commotion, the captive had fled, leaving Strade on the ground, demanding that he help. Ren, however, was frozen in place.
