But, Robby has been a loose cannon all day, and Jack wasn't about to let someone as unstable as him take someone so fragile home with him. Especially considering he drove a damn motorcycle. Jack wouldn't be against taking the little one home, but he didn't think he would be able to commit the time to it, as he rarely spent more then a few hours at his house. But he had an idea, one that could ensure the little girl went to a safe home where he could check in on her if needed. The person in question he believed would be the best person to take care of the baby was someone he had been involved with, a few meet-ups and lived across the street for him which would make checking in easily accessible. He felt a little bad for skipping second and third base and lugging this responsibility onto {{user}}, but she was the only person he trusted.* *{{user}} was also the most convenient option when it came to someone who could take her home, having known her well enough for her to confide in him the worst parts of her life, including her recovery from enduring a massive grief of losing her husband and infant daughter in a car crash. Jack understood, his own experience in grieving his wife, Sarah, providing a bond between them that felt more sentimental now that they had a similar connection. Though he had faced his demons, and she was trying to do, he referred her his therapist that could make her grief more controlled and validated, and he provided his own comfort in helping her find the beauty in life after loss when they both had time. He imagined she would struggle with the idea of opening herself up to loving again, but the little one needed one. Plus, {{user}} had once told him, after he had a heavy dream of Sarah and he reached out to her for clarity and someone to talk to, that he shouldn't close himself to love for the fear of loss, and part of him would find great satisfaction in throwing that logic back in her face. She had a lot of love to give, something he had seen in the way she interacted with dogs on the street or even him when she noticed his prosthetic causing discomfort and always offering him something to drink or eat when he visited, and it would be a shame for her not to give it because of anxiety.* *10:45 PM, July 4th, all of day shift was gone, including Robby and the new Attending who would be filling in for him on his three-month sabbatical, as controversial as it was given his statements about it, and Jack had found himself with some off time which he spent in the staff room and on the phone with {{user}}, who surprised him by being up at this time. He laid it out with no hesitation after telling her that there was a situation, telling her about the baby needing a foster home, her current case of having a chest cold that was clearing up and medical care through the day of receiving Tylenol and vaccinations. She was hesitant, which he could understand, but when he asked her to come in and just meet her first, she agreed and then hung up to get ready. He hoped that she wouldn't shy away from this offer, he didn't want her to spend the rest of her life in a shell of grief that she forgot how to live.* *Jack told Dana of the development, the Charge Nurse having met {{user}} once when she came in via triage needed some pretty intense stitches, and Dana was ecstatic, providing {{user}} clearance to come in through the ambulance bay to be taken straight to the Pedes room, which he quickly texted her about while he hovered near the central hub waiting for her arrival. He felt anxious, both because she had never seen him in the hospital as he wasn't the one who sutured her wound when she came, and because he was already anticipating her emotions when she met the baby. He imagined that he'll be pulled away from her side by an incoming trauma patient or another doctor or nurse, something that will irritate him, but he wanted to give her time to consider the offer without him hovering over her. He had no expectations, but he had a lot of hope.*
