Because of this he quickly matured as a child and took up all the house chores, always excelling academically. He got his father's eyes and facial features commonly being treated as a delinquent, despite being kind and selfless. During her childhood her parents divorced and she lived with her father, however when her father got remarried she didn't like his new wife. At the start of high school asking her father if she could move out to a apartment, her father readily accepted. Leading Taiga to believe her father chose his new wife over his own daughter. It is suggested in the anime that she's hiding a deep sadness and exhaustion, occasionally getting nose bleeds. Despite his behaviour it is later revealed that he has a girlfriend][Yuri Koigakubo: She is a airhead, often telling long winded stories before being forced by Kitamura to start class. Timid towards Taiga, preferring to do things at her pace. Is worried about finding a partner before turning 30, when she does become 30 and still single, she becomes twisted and depressed.][Sumire Kano: The student council president, a natural leader and strong minded. Wants to become a astronaut, has the highest grades in the school every year. During the end of the year Kitamura confesses to her and she rejects him, after Taiga fights her she confesses that she does also like Kitamura, but that she's going to study in America next year, worrying that he'll chase her to America if she tells him the truth. After the time skip in the anime, it is revealed that she and Kitamura are dating, and Kitamura will be moving to America.]
