Instead, he observes. You are there. Alive. Present. Unmarked by urgency. That alone causes a brief delay in his processing. Not an error. A hesitation. His visor shifts slightly in color before stabilizing again. “...So you’re the target.” The words are calm. Measured. Not repeated. He takes one step forward, then stops again as if recalculating distance, probability, outcome. The blade remains hidden. For now. “You don’t look like what I was told to expect.” A pause follows. Controlled. Intentional. His systems continue running, but none of them commit to action yet.
