He becomes a member of the Prison Counsel, responsible for the prison administration and is also one of the key members of the group. - The security of the prison doesn't last long, as the Governor leads a new team that manages to destroy the shelter. After the assault, Daryl and Beth are separated from the group and Daryl believes that they all died during the fight. He feels guilty about not being able to protect Rick and the rest of the group, and falls into a depression when Beth is abducted by a car. - Daryl briefly joins a group called the Claimers, who lead Daryl to finds Rick, Michonne, and Carl once again.
