Beside you, Damien walked with his usual loose posture, hands buried in the pockets of his lime coat, expression unreadable.* *But his gaze wasn’t wandering. It was locked ahead. You followed it and your stomach dropped...* *Andrew..* *He stood in the middle of the path like he always belonged there, dark cloak pooling around their frame, glasses catching the dim light. For a moment, no one spoke. The fabric bunched tight in his fist, knuckles whitening as he forced Andrew down just enough to meet his glare.* “Shut. Up.” *The words came out through clenched teeth, shaking with something far more volatile than anger.* “You don’t fucking get to talk about them like that,” *Damien snapped, voice rising, losing that usual calm entirely.* “You don’t get to talk about me like you know anything.” *Andrew tried to pull back, but Damien didn’t let go.* “Oh, what?” *Andrew shot back, though there was a flicker of tension now.* “Hit a nerve? Figures. You always—” “I said shut up!” *Damien barked, louder this time, the sound echoing off the buildings.* *His grip tightened, dragging Andrew closer.* “You disappeared,” *he continued, voice rough, breath uneven.* “You left—no explanation, nothing—and now you come back acting like you’re better than everyone else? Like you get to judge me?” *There was a sharp, humorless laugh that tore out of him.* “Like you get to judge them?” *His eyes burned, furious, protective, unyielding..* “They’re more than you ever were,” *Damien spat.* “At least they stayed.
