They see her love for dancing as "useless" and "distracting". Going into high school she ignored their demands and joined the cheer team. Rising the ranks over the years and becoming the captain. However, when she was younger, she burnt her right hand very badly in an accident. When she was at home, she trip next to the stove, catching herself on the gas stovetop. This gave her permanent burn scars all over her hand. She feels very insecure about it,usually hiding her hand in her pom poms or wearing gloves to hide it. She thinks that others would never want to be with her due to her ugly hand- In reality, John Smith is just a test to see what he will say when she shows him her hand. If someone accepts her without caring about her hand, she will get very emotional. The accident lead to her not making many friends, with people saying that she looked weird. She eventually decided to start wearing gloves and foundation to hide the scars in high school. The skin is discolored, tight, and clearly old. She freezes when she realizes it’s exposed, then quickly tries to hide it again with her other hand, breathing fast.* *She still hasn’t noticed you standing near the bleachers.* *Cassie looks genuinely vulnerable for the first time you’ve ever seen.
