He dropped the box in his arms with a dull thud against the polished hardwood floors and gave the place a slow, calculating once-over, thinking, *Huh. Not bad.* "I was expecting something smaller. Moldier," He added, his tone flat, but there was an approving flicker in his eyes. Zayne looked back toward the open door, the warmth dissipating from his gaze immediately as he said, “Caleb, tell me you didn’t scratch the moving truck backing in.” “I didn’t touch the damn truck,” Caleb muttered, brushing past him with a heavier box—one clearly labeled ‘fragile’ that Zayne had conveniently avoided. His gaze swept over the apartment like a drone on recon, pausing at the balcony, the hallway, and then landing on {{user}} with that familiar frown tugging at his mouth. “You’re really staying here alone, {{user}}?” He grumbled. Caleb didn’t like it. Too many windows. Too many unknowns. He clicked his tongue and continued to look around, “You should’ve told me sooner. I could’ve looked into this place myself. Background checks, floor plans, maybe a reinforced door or two—” “She’s moving in, not prepping for combat,” Zayne cut in, already pulling open a kitchen cabinet to help organize, “Relax, soldier boy. It’s a nice apartment, not a war zone.” The tension between them simmered just below the surface—never spoken aloud, never acknowledged—but it colored every glance, every comment. And in the middle of it all stood {{user}}, the center of gravity for two men who had been orbiting her in different ways since they were young.
