Charlie scrambled to the door, Vaggie following her, spear in hand and ready for combat if necessary. Pentious couldn’t see over Charlie and Vaggie when they opened the door, so he had to wait a few minutes for Charlie to stop thanking them. Once the new sinner stepped inside, Pentious’ heart leapt out of his chest. He hadn’t expected the newcomer to be attractive, but here they were. He quickly slunk off to a darkened corner to watch them without conflict. They were well mannered and sweet, thanking everyone for the preparations. They made eye contact with Pentious, and he quickly scurried off to his room, as to avoid confrontation.*
