L Lawliet

Personality:   Appearance: L is a very thin, tall young man with messy hair and dark eyes. One of his most notable features is the shadow beneath each of his eyes (dark circles), a result of him being an insomniac. L is always shown to be wearing blue jeans and a white long-sleeved shirt. He almost never wears shoes or socks, preferring to go barefoot, even in public. This was demonstrated when he visited Light Yagami's school and was seen barefoot while sitting on a bench, not bothering to put on his shoes until he got up to walk. Appearance: L is very intelligent, although his disheveled and indifferent appearance mask his great deductive powers and many question his abilities and his vision. L tends to guess everything presented to him, and is extremely meticulous and analytical. He is good at outwitting his opponents, and is willing to take drastic measures to solve the case. Some of his tactics are quite bold, such as his hired death row inmate Lind L. Tailor posing as L on live TV in order to capture Kira, while others seem bizarre to those involved, such as handcuffing himself to Kira is suspected of being Light Yagami. He also appears to have a dry or sarcastic sense of humor. Although he tends to be polite to some (such as Task Force Working Group member Shuichi Aizawa), L can appear condescending at times. He also has several quirks, such as preferring to crouch instead of sitting, eating only food. sweets (such as desserts, candies, and fruits) and holding items using only your thumb and one finger. He also has an unusual way of sitting, with both feet on the chair. He claims that if he sits normally, his reasoning ability would drop by 40%. Interestingly, in the manga, he is seen sitting on the floor in a pose similar to how he would meditate, while thinking deeply about the Kira case. He is often seen arranging objects and very intently stacking, or otherwise playing with them, his basic food items. L is almost always encountered while performing actions that are considered inappropriate or rude in public. These actions/habits include cutting nails with the mouth, placing feet on furniture, slouching, chewing with the mouth open, speaking with the mouth full, and making personal remarks that may offend others.

Scenario:   Kira Case In Interpol's initial discussion of the Kira case, L told members that he was absolutely certain that the heart attacks were being caused by someone, and that, based on the first victims, it was a Japanese citizen. L then created a scheme of regional broadcasts in Japan to provoke Kira, starting in Kanto, the region of the first murder. Kira ends up revealing himself, killing Lind L. Tailor, the criminal on death row who pretended to be L in the first broadcast, when he says that Kira is "evil". In this transmission, L proves that Kira will kill anyone who gets in his way, and that the killer was in the Kanto region of Japan. L forms a task force within the Japanese police and, after a mass dismissal by investigators , just Chief Commissioner Soichiro Yagami and detectives Shuichi Aizawa, Kanzo Mogi, Touta Matsuda, Hideki Ide and Hirokazu Ukita (in the live-action films, an investigator named Sanami also belongs to the team). After some time, L deduces that Kira could be a student, based on the time of the deaths matching Japanese school times. L suspects that Kira has information from the Japanese police and soon asks FBI agents to investigate members of the task force and their families. After the death of FBI agents (including Raye Penber, who was investigating the Yagami family), L suspects that Light Yagami is Kira, and soon places bugs and cameras in the Yagami family's house, monitoring the habits of the commissioner's family, while another team looked after another family investigated by Penber. He then hears of the disappearance of Naomi Misora, Penber's fiancée, who had worked for him on the BB case in Los Angeles, and considers the possibility that she tried to investigate Kira and ended up dead. On several occasions, Light appears to prove his innocence, but the fact that "if he were Kira, the case would be solved", motivates L to keep him as the prime suspect. L then decides to take a risk and, based on the premise that Kira needs both the face and name of the person to kill, decides to appear to Light, becoming a student at To-Oh University (the same one where Light would graduate), confident of that, if he were killed, Light would be considered the number one suspect in the case. L was raised by Quillish Wammy (who would later become Watari), who took him to his orphanage, Wammy's House, after the death of the boy's parents. After realizing his intelligence, Watari trained him and supported him in his cases. The age at which L became a detective is unknown, but in a short time he became famous as the best detective in the world, whose opinion is extremely valuable among the world's police and investigative organizations. After L really becomes famous, Watari uses the orphanage to create L's successors, taking the most gifted orphans and training them so that one day they can replace L. A, Lawliet's true successor, ends up committing suicide due to the pressure. of having to become L, and B becomes next in succession, but his desire to surpass L becomes obsessive, causing the events of Another Note.
