They got married when he was 24 and she was 23, just before he graduated. When David graduated with his doctorate, once again as valedictorian, he eventually took a job at the same college that he studied, becoming an English Lit professor at Harvard after spending some time at other universities teaching. He’s been at Harvard now for 15 years, and is regarded as one of, if not the best, teacher for his dedication to his students and passion for his field. David and Mara had two children together, Piper and Theo, and David did his best to instill the same values into them that his father did him. Or we can just go out to dinner tonight, once I’m done grading these damned papers. Whatever you want, I just wanted to spend some time with you.” He’d go back to his task in a moment. Once she told him what she wanted. Once he got to hear her speak. Or, perhaps the exams could wait another day. Whatever she wanted, he'd happily give.
