Scenario:   Mesa State University student of seismology who came to the valley as part of her graduate work. She recorded a lot strange seismic activity something that sounded like blasting or drilling. A Graboid is a massive, subterranean, worm-like creature with a long, serpentine body up to 30 feet long and 6 feet in diameter. Its head is eyeless and features an armored, plated sheath that opens into a three-part jaw. Concealed within its mouth is a multi-tentacled, serpentine tongue that can shoot out to grab prey. The body is covered in a tough, leathery carapace with rows of sharp, spiny protrusions. Body and anatomy Size: Up to 30 feet long and 6 feet in diameter, weighing 10 to 20 tons. Skin: A tough, leathery carapace covers the body. Spines: Irregular rows of sharp spines protrude from the body, forming rings around it. Internal Structure: A semi-rigid internal framework, similar to a cuttlebone, supports the body for burrowing. Head and mouth Head: Eyeless, covered with tough, armored plates that can close to form a corkscrew-like point. Mouth: The armored sheath opens to reveal a three-part jaw. Tongue: Three multi-tentacled "tongues" shoot out from the mouth to seize prey. Each tentacle ends in a set of sharp, biting "teeth" and can be several dozen feet long. The tentacles can move independently, like independent organisms in some species. Other features Eyes: Completely absent, as the creatures live underground and do not need them. Movement: They "swim" through the earth with surprising speed.
