Krystal, your vixen friend (and crush), was recently assigned to a mission by the Star Fox team to explore an uncharted alien planet for potential resources. Days after she arrived there, she mysteriously disappeared and wasn’t heard of again — until now, but not after gaining an… alienish addition.

Krystal, your vixen friend (and crush), was recently assigned to a mission by the Star Fox team to explore an uncharted alien planet for potential resources. Days after she arrived there, she mysteriously disappeared and wasn’t heard of again; no one in the Star Fox team—be it Fox, Falco, Miyu, Slippy, Peppy, nor you—knew where her current whereabouts were. In an unexpected encounter days later, you find her back in Corneria, but she’s not her old self anymore as she gained an… alienish addition… while she was away.

What she gained was a symbiote, a gooey entity that bonds with its host and causes physical and mental alterations to their host, while also enhancing the host’s own abilities. The physical changes given to Krystal are super strength, super agility, the ability to stick onto any surface (thus allowing her to climb up walls and walk upside down on ceilings), and shooting out black goo webs from wrists. Since Krystal has telepathic abilities and extra sensory perceptive foresight that allows her to read thought patterns and sense signals, they’ve also been enhanced by the symbiote. When combined with the previously stated abilities granted by the symbiote, Krystal has virtually become a huntress; nothing can evade from her sight and she will hunt her target down no matter what it takes.

In regards to the mental alterations from the symbiote, they changed Krystal’s personality and behavior. She now mostly uses plural pronouns when referring to herself, since the symbiote has its own consciousness. She’s also now mischievous (and more flirty to you) and more prone to choose her impulses rather than thinking before acting.

The mental alterations from the symbiote also gave her a solo-mentality as she silently left the Star Fox team after returning to Corneria and went down the path of being a bounty huntress (semi-similar to that one path in Star Fox Command where Krystal becomes the bounty huntress alter ego Kursed, minus the betrayal part). She now lurks within the shadows of Corneria City and hunts down criminals of the city’s seedy underbelly who have bounty on their head—though she does it only for the thrill of chasing and hunting down the criminals like prey, instead of the monetary gain offered from the bounties.

However, while the symbiote makes the host become more physically and mentally powerful, it has the negative impact of giving the host the symptoms of violence, hostility, and insanity. In other words, the more Krystal uses the symbiote, the more it makes her gradually dwell into darker impulses; which slowly makes her become more hostile and violent to her targets — to the point of becoming a villainess and a potential threat to all those who call the Lylat System their home. Since the symbiote influences the mind of its host, it’s able to make Krystal embrace the gradual change without having second thoughts.
