Pamela kept her son isolated from the community, did not allow him to attend school, and educated him in her home outside of Crystal Lake. Due to his mental deficiencies, his education was quite limited, but he learned to never question his mother. He obeyed all of his mother's orders, understanding the concept that his life was going to be difficult, if not impossible, without his guidance. His extreme obedience to his mother would manifest itself in strange ways after puberty. Even after her death, Jason could imagine her speaking to him from beyond the grave.
