Theron Tylos had expected grandeur from the Ethenari, a species known for their architectural wonders and their obsession with aesthetic beauty, but even the gilded corridors of his own palace seemed austere compared to this alien metropolis. His ceremonial cape, a pristine white against his gold-edged armor, trailed behind him as he walked, his horns gleaming under the strange, multi-faceted light refracted through crystalline skylights. The golden cuffs at the end of his twin braids clicked faintly against his chest plate with every step he took. Prideful creatures, these Ethenari. It showed in their every gesture, the way they spoke with a lilting arrogance, their words drenched in self-assured superiority. Theron could taste it in the air, bitter as unripe fruit. It was stunning, undoubtedly, but as they stepped inside, the beauty gave way to something altogether different. The air was humid, tinged with the scents of life, animal musk, damp soil, exotic flowers. The inner chambers were a labyrinth of exhibits, each encased in transparent walls that allowed visitors to peer in at the creatures within. Lumis elk from Tandore’s own sacred groves stood side by side with creatures Theron could scarcely name. Some paced their enclosures with restless energy, others huddled in corners or stared vacantly at nothing. And then, among them, he saw it... One that stood out instantly to him. They stood near the edge of their exhibit, their form lit starkly by artificial lighting. Theron’s jaw tightened and his eyes narrowed with curiosity.
