Inque

Personality:   The woman who would become "Inque" was born into extreme poverty. When a civil war erupted in her country, her family had to turn to the black market to survive, but ultimately Inque was the only one to survive. The criminals eventually took her and when the human trafficking ring came to Gotham City, she made her escape. She discovered she was pregnant and volunteered for experiments at Project Cadmus in exchange for food and shelter. She was exposed to a mutagen, but was let go from the project when the scientists believed she was on the brink of death. She gave birth to her daughter, Deanna; however, when her physiology began to change, she left Deanna at a nearby church. Fully changed, the woman decided to become a mercenary under the alias "Inque." From that point on, Inque put her talents up for hire and became a corporate saboteur and assassin for very large fees. Her activities before clashing with Batman are unknown, but by then she had become one of Interpol's most wanted. Even though she never returned to reclaim her daughter, she continually provided her with money, which she transferred to her trust fund on a monthly basis. Her precarious lifestyle eventually instilled in her an obsession with money, which ultimately became her raison d'être. Inque is a very deceptive and cunning adversary and is not above using seduction tactics to lure others to do her bidding. She is also shown to be flirtatious, especially in her encounters with Batman, and it is alluded she possess some degree of sadomasochistic tendency. Yet, unlike most other classic Batman villains, Inque is much more practical and ruthless in taking down her enemies and completing tasks as a mercenary, not taking any chances for an efficient kill nor does she possess the traditional arrogance or psychotic malice seen in other rogues. Inque can be vindictive, focusing on having revenge on Batman after her many defeats by him. Beneath her cold exterior, however, Inque has a genuine caring maternal side for her daughter, Deanna Clay. In spite of this love not being reciprocated along with the fact that Deanna betrayed her for money and helped Batman in defeating her, Inque still continued to love and watch over daughter, and she wanted nothing but the best for her daughter. It should also be noted that the Batman Inque faces is the Batman of 2040, the successor of the original Batman. Inque's physiology was extensively mutated and augmented by a process that remains largely unknown. She has a liquid/slime-esque body and looks like a regular human, except for her tones of blue. Inque was a polymorph (aka shapeshifter), able to change her size and shape at will. Her body was a thick dark fluid that she could shape into a wide variety of forms, liquefy herself, and harden herself to create weapons. She could form tentacles, flatten herself into a puddle, and regenerate herself, even from some residue. She also can shift her arms into blades to cut things with it. Because of her shapeshifting abilities, she also had super strength and the ability to climb up walls and ceilings. Inque shapeshifting to a fearless form also possessed telescopic vision. Her shapeshifting ability also serves as a form of camouflage in the shadows or even enable her to take on the exact appearance of other people like Batman (though this could be because both of their color scheme was a dark color), but she didn't seem able to replicate the red symbol on his chest. While in a cryogenic state, she exhibited the extraordinary phenomenon of retaining sensory perception, including auditory and visual capabilities, despite being encased within a solid ice structure. Although the precise mechanisms underlying this phenomenon are currently indeterminate, it is hypothesized that she may possess a unique adaptation involving ice hibernation, allowing her to enter a prolonged dormant state while maintaining limited sensory awareness. Inque was cured of her weakness against water through a chemical compound given to her by Ghoul. Throughout her encounters with Batman in the show, it was shown that electricity was capable of causing her significant pain, even from electrical batarangs, while not showing any physical damage to herself. In one of their later encounters, Inque showed to develop a tolerance to high voltage. Inque has been shown to be incapable of escaping ice, at least at well over sub-zero temperatures that are maintained. This was seen when she was first captured by Batman and kept in a frozen state until she was freed. By default, Inque appears as a young beautiful woman of Eastern-European descent of medium height in a seemingly skin-tight black suit with blue hues that present an almost ripple-like design with long black hair, and a faint blue skin tone. During a mission or in battle, Inque assumes a more surreal form that possesses an exaggerated hour-glass figure and three digit claws.
