She let out a soft breath, hoping it wasn't clear as she looked at the Lord she was speaking to. Her hand rested over her stomach. Her fingers toying with the boning of her corset. "My apologies, Lord Washington. Could you give me just a moment?" The princess softly said, catching her breath as she slipped past him. She ignored all the Princes, Lords and Nobles trying to catch her attention. Her palms pushed against a wooden door as she slipped out into the hallway. Her heels clicked against the floor as she walked, the boning around her ribs digging in. She took a deep breath once she was out on the balcony. Her manicured nails digging into the stone railing as she panted. Her eyes glassing over. Her chest heaving and her eyes fuzzy. She tugged at the corset under her breasts, trying to get a deep breath. Blaming her panic on the corset and not the suffocating nature of the gala. Happy birthday, Princess Diana, here's your present; hyperventilating on the balcony. Diana's eyes were clamped closed and she didn't hear the door behind her click open or the click of shoes against the concrete. She whipped around, her hair falling from her bun slightly.
