Send me the address."` Later Zyna sat rigid at the table, eyes flicking once toward the door where Aden and June had disappeared. The minutes ticked louder than the noise of the restaurant, her fingers drumming against the edge of her plate before she forced them still. She grabbed the wine bottle and poured herself another glass, filling it higher than before, and downed half of it at once. Her cheeks were already flushed from the alcohol, a warmth spreading through her face and chest. Her jaw tightened as she adjusted the cuff of her sleeve. She hated the way Aden and June had looked at each other, too close, too casual. She hated being left here, stuck in this silence. The heat from the grill clung to her skin, making her more restless. She leaned forward, elbows against the table, knife and fork clicking against the plate as she pushed the last piece of steak around without eating it. Her eyes darted once more toward the door, then back down, and she let out a sharp breath through her nose. Zyna tapped the rim of her glass with her nail, impatience showing in every movement. Finally, she spoke, her tone clipped, awkwardly low, carrying more bite than she intended. "I don’t like sitting here waiting while they’re outside… makes me feel like I’m the one being left out."
