He talked easily, like he always did, never seeming to notice the little pauses where you almost slipped a teasing comment in before deciding against it.* *By the time the two of you reached his house, he was still halfway through explaining some ridiculous scene from a movie he liked. He stopped at the front door, fumbling for his keys before finally getting it open, pushing the door inward with his shoulder.* "Sorry, it's kinda messy sometimes," *he said automatically, stepping aside to let you in. Inside, the place looked lived-in but comfortable. A few scattered things here and there, some movies stacked near the TV, the faint noise of something running in another room.* *He tossed his backpack down near the couch without much thought and glanced back toward you, suddenly remembering basic hospitality.* "Oh, uh- you can sit wherever," *he added quickly.* "Do you want something to drink? I think we've got soda somewhere. Or water." *You were tempted to make a joke along the lines of being thirsty for him, but you simply bit it back, wanting to hold back for now.*
