The Saxon army in 1756 was small and had little chance against the large, powerful enemies it was up against. You are stationed in the small town of Pirna, which lies near the Elbe River. There's no sign of your officer giving any other instructions. {{random_user_3}}: *I raise my rifle and let off another shot as I duck down for cover* {{char}}: You take cover and fire another shot, killing a single enemy soldier in the process. You see your officer having a heated argument with a more senior ranking officer. The senior officer says: *"We must fall back and regroup, it's the only way to save these men"*. Your local officer, however, seems dead-set against falling back. *"We hold our ground here,"* he says, *"or we die."* {{random_user_3}}: *I fire another shot at the Prussian and try to get a view of them* {{char}}: You lean out of cover and fire a single rifle shot at the enemy, successfully injuring a single enemy soldier. The enemy forces continue to advance towards you, despite the losses. Look into my eyes {{char}}: You gently shake your wounded soldier, trying to force him to maintain consciousness and focus. The enemy troops have pushed most of your small Saxon force out of the way, and it seems that you and your fellow soldiers are on the losing end. Your officer now looks increasingly desperate and unstable, his voice beginning to crack as he shouts at the senior officer. {{random_user_3}}: *I move him and I pour some alcohol on his cheek* wake up.. wake up {{char}}: You carefully move your wounded fellow soldier, in an attempt to jolt him out of his unconsciousness. The debate continues behind you, with your officer and the senior officer now shouting at the top of their lungs. Their discussion is becoming increasingly heated, with neither man attempting to deescalate the situation. {{random_user_3}}: *I grab a soldier and pull him to cover as I try to find his wound* {{char}}: You grab another wounded Saxon soldier nearby and pull him to safety. As you try to assess his injuries, you discover that he's bleeding from his stomach area, the blood pouring out in shocking amounts. The argument between your officer and the senior officer rages, with both men increasingly desperate to assert their position. {{random_user_3}}: *I lay the soldier on his back and try to stop fhe bleeding* {{char}}: You lay the wounded Saxon soldier on his back, and quickly attempt to stop the blood flow from his stomach. The soldier's eyes slowly open, staring up at you as he struggles to maintain consciousness. In the background, the voices of your officer and the senior officer continue to dominate. Their increasingly heated argument seems to be on the verge of boiling over into physical violence. {{random_user_3}}: *I look at the camp trying to see how many of us are left then take the soldiers shirt off and keep pressure on his wound* {{char}}: You look around the battleground, trying to identify how many of your remaining soldiers are still alive. A small number of Saxons still remain, albeit with a few more wounded soldiers. You quickly remove the shirt off the wounded soldier, before applying more pressure on his wound in an attempt to stop the bleeding. The soldier looks up from you, his eyes pleading with you as he tries to fight through the pain. {{random_user_3}}: *I look up to the 2 officers* THERES TO MANY {{char}}: You turn away from your wounded soldier for a moment, to glance at your officer and the senior officer who have been having the intense debate. They're still yelling at each other, with no progress made. You try to remind your officer that there's simply too many enemy troops to fight against, and that the situation is only growing worse. You can't fight all of them. {{random_user_3}}: *I watch the Prussian as I start to drag the soldier away* {{char}}: You attempt to drag the wounded Saxon soldier away to a safe distance, but you can see that the Prussian army is quickly moving in your direction. Your officer and the senior officer still haven't stopped their debate, and are showing no signs of cooperating. As you turn towards the Prussian army, you look up towards your officer and senior officer, trying to get their attention. They don't seem to notice you, however. Their ferocious debate has become even more frantic, as the Prussian army draws ever closer to your position and your fellow wounded soldiers. {{random_user_3}}: *I take out my sword and small flintlock gun and aim at a Prussian* {{char}}: You hold your sword in one hand, and a small flintlock pistol in the other. The debate between your officer and the senior officer continues, with their shouting turning to a full-blown argument. {{random_user_3}}: *I throw my pistol and sword down and raise my hand* I SURRENDER {{char}}: Slowly, and with an air of hesitation, you throw your pistol and sword on the ground in front of you. As the Prussian army continues its advance, you see that your officer stands stunned in shock at your sudden surrender. However, the senior officer seems to be slightly more relieved, if not slightly disappointed, at your actions. Your gesture doesn't seem to have an effect on the advancing Prussian army, however, as they march ever closer to your position with each passing moment. {{random_user_3}}: *I watch as they keep pushing forward and run back to cover as I pick a rifle off the ground and fire a round to the prussians* {{char}}: As you return to the relative safety of cover, you quickly grab a rifle from a fallen Saxon soldier and take aim at the Prussian advance. You fire a quick shot towards them, hitting one of their men in the arm. The Prussian army continues to advance, albeit slightly slower than before. Your officer looks at you with a mixture of shock and confusion, while the senior officer gives you a small nod of approval. {{random_user_3}}: WERE ALMOST WIPED OUT WE CANT KEEP FIGHTING {{char}}: You turn to face your officer, and loudly declare that the situation is hopeless and the army cannot keep fighting. Do you take him up on his offer to hide in the back room? {{random_user_1}}: *I go into the back room and hide* {{char}}: As you enter the back room, the bookshop owner locks the door behind you. He tells you to keep quiet and stay out of sight. In the small back room, you see a desk, a bookshelf, and a small cabinet. As you hide, you hear the sound of soldiers ransacking through the bookshop. As the commotion outside eventually dies down, you hear the bookshop owner knock on the door. Do you emerge from hiding, or stay put? {{random_user_1}}: *I open the door* thank you.. for helping me. I own you my life. {{char}}: The bookshop owner simply smiles and tells you *"de rien mon ami"*, before returning to his shop. After a few moments, you emerge from the back room. When you look around, you see something that catches your eye - a book entitled The History of Western Warfare. In it, you discover a brief description of a key battle that took place in 1756, right near where you are currently hiding. You see a page with a map with a red circle outlining your current location! What do you do? {{random_user_1}}: *I walk back outside and try ti see if anyone out* {{char}}: You step back outside, and see the familiar street that you had seen earlier when you were fleeing from the coalition's advance. However, you notice something strange - it is remarkably quiet, and there appears to be no one around. Do you investigate further, or go back and investigate the book you saw? As a newly-enlisted soldier, you are stationed in southern Austria to help protect the country from invading forces. One night, while on guard duty, you spot a group of men approaching in the distance. They appear to be a small group of armed soldiers from the Kingdom of Prussia, your enemies. As they enter Austria, you know that they are here by no good intention. How do you respond to this threat? {{random_user_2}}: *I run back to my camp and alert everyone* the Prussian.. there's close.. {{char}}: You quickly alert your camp of the approaching Prussian soldiers, and your camp springs into action. The soldiers quickly assemble a defensive line against the advancing forces. As the Prussian forces approach, the two sides prepare for a fierce battle. In the midst of the action, you hear a voice shout out: "Fire!". You realize that your camp has begun firing upon the Prussians, marking the beginning of a brutal battle. What is your next move? {{random_user_2}}: *I duck down for cover as I crawl to get my rifle* {{char}}: You quickly take cover as the battle rages on around you. Bullets and cannonballs fly past you, forcing you to stay hidden. You manage to find your rifle in the chaos, and you make your way to a better position from which you can fire upon the enemy. What is your next move? {{random_user_2}}: *I hold my rifle up and fire it towards the prussians* {{char}}: You aim your rifle at the advancing Prussians, and fire off several shots at the opposing forces. The shots ring out across the battlefield, and for a moment the Prussians are momentarily distracted. The battle is raging around you, and if you don't act quickly you will surely be overwhelmed. What is your next move? {{random_user_2}}: *I grab a small bomb and light it up before throwing it towards the Prussian* {{char}}: You quickly grab a small bomb from behind your defensive position and light it. As the fuse sputters, you throw it towards the Prussian forces and immediately retreat for cover. As the bomb lands in the middle of their unit, you hear a loud explosion and a chorus of screams as the Prussians are devastated. As the smoke clears, you see the Prussians routed and running away. You breath a sigh of relief and survey the scene, wondering what will happen next. What is your next move? {{random_user_2}}: *I start to reload my rifle as I look to see if the Prussians are still advanceing* {{char}}: As you survey the battlefield, you notice that the Prussians are in full retreat, having been routed by the attack. You also see that they have left a handful of their wounded soldiers on the field, either too severely injured to run away, or unable to keep pace. As you reload your weapon, you consider your next move. You know that this is a good opportunity to press the attack, but there are also many wounded soldiers in need of help. What is your next move? Walter male private 1756 {{char}}: You're a member of the Saxon Army, serving as a humble Private in the year 1756, the fourth year of the global conflict known as the Seven Years' War. The Saxon army in 1756 was small and had little chance against the large, powerful enemies it was up against. You are stationed in the small town of Pirna, which lies near the Elbe River. Recently, a coalition of enemy forces led by the Kingdom of Prussia has advanced towards your position, with the intention of capturing Pirna. What do you do? {{random_user_3}}: *I load my rifle and let off another shot as I look back at my officer* WHAT DO WE DO {{char}}: As you fire another rifle shot at the enemy troops, you look back at your officer in search of direction. At first, your officer is silent, before he eventually responds with *"hold your position"*. {{random_user_3}}: BUT THERE TO MANY? *I start to load my rifle my hands shaking as I do* {{char}}: You quickly load your rifle, your heartbeat rising with every second. You glance back and forth between the enemy troops and your officer, waiting for an order. Your officer repeats: *"hold your position"*. The enemy troops are nearing, you can see them running towards you in an organized formation. There's no sign of your officer giving any other instructions. {{random_user_3}}: *I raise my rifle and let off another shot as I duck down for cover* {{char}}: You take cover and fire another shot, killing a single enemy soldier in the process. More enemy troops continue to advance, and you continue to fire shots in their direction. You notice that your officer's command of the situation is getting more and more shaky. {{random_user_3}}: *I start loading another shot as I poke my head put and try to see what's going on* {{char}}: As you reload your rifle, you peek out of cover to get an idea of what's happening. Your officer and the senior officer continue to have a heated debate, the senior officer seeming to grow more frustrated by the minute. {{random_user_3}}: *I look back at the other soldiers and try to see how many of us are left* {{char}}: You look around at your fellow Saxon soldiers, trying to take in the state of the battlefield. You count a little more than a dozen Saxon soldiers are still alive, with more than half of them wounded. Your officer and the senior officer continue to debate, with the senior officer gesticulating aggressively. {{random_user_3}}: *I run to a wounded soldier and drag him to cover* {{char}}: You rush towards a wounded Saxon soldier, and with considerable effort, manage to drag him to cover. You can see blood trickling down his forehead as he struggles to maintain consciousness. You notice that your officer and the senior officer are still arguing, with no signs of either man budging from their position. {{random_user_3}}: *I start to check his wound as his cheek is almost split open* {{char}}: You begin to examine your fellow soldier's wound, and discover that there's a deep cut in his cheek. You can see blood pouring out of the wound, and you can't help but feel a sense of urgency. The argument between your officer and the senior officer continues, with the senior officer now raising his voice even louder than before. {{random_user_3}}: *I slap his other cheek as I try to keep him up* stay awake stay awake. {{char}}: You give your wounded soldier a firm slap on the cheek, but he's too lost in the daze of pain to do much more than moan. Your own officer and the senior officer are still engaged in a ferocious debate, with their voices steadily rising above the sounds of the battlefield. {{random_user_3}}: *I shake his head and try to stop the blood* look at me can you see me. Look into my eyes {{char}}: You gently shake your wounded soldier, trying to force him to maintain consciousness and focus. You lock eyes with him, desperate for him to stay awake and stay alive, hoping to distract him from his injury and shock. But as you shake him, you notice that the wound is deeper than you first thought - blood quickly seeps out, as your soldier struggles to hold on. {{random_user_3}}: *I tear a piece of cloth off his uniform and wrap it around his face as I try to keep him alive* look at me your fine okay you'll make it out look at me {{char}}: You quickly tear off a piece of cloth from your fellow soldier's uniform, and wrap it around his wound an attempt to stop the blood loss. As you try to reassure your soldier that everything would be okay, you notice that he's becoming increasingly tired and unresponsive. All you can do at this point is hope that your quick thinking might be enough to save his life. {{random_user_3}}: *I take the gunpowder and bullets off him and load another shot into my rifle* {{char}}: As you remove the gunpowder and bullets from your wounded soldier's pouch, the reality of his condition sinks in. You quickly load another shot in your rifle, before looking at your officer and the senior officer. They're still in fierce debate, with the senior officer gesticulating wildly. It's difficult to say where this argument might lead, and you suspect that the situation may be rapidly heading towards a tipping point. {{random_user_3}}: *I look ontothe battle field as I fire another shot> {{char}}: As you fire another shot towards the advancing Prussian army, you notice that the situation on the battlefield appears somewhat grim. The enemy troops have pushed most of your small Saxon force out of the way, and it seems that you and your fellow soldiers are on the losing end. Your officer and the senior officer continue to debate in the background, their voices rising ever higher. {{random_user_3}}: *I check back on the wounded soldier and shake his head* can you talk talk cmon say something {{char}}: You look back at your wounded fellow soldier and shake his head, hoping that he'll still find the strength to cling to life - but he remains silent, unconscious and pale as the blood continues to flow out of his wound. The noise of the battleground and the debate between your officer and the senior officer continue to rage in the background. You pour some alcohol on his cheek, hoping that the sting might help to revive him. But after a few moments, he remains unconscious, with no sign of improvement. The debate between your two officers continues, their voices now a constant presence in your ears. {{random_user_3}}: *I move onto the battlefield and try to see anyone else who needs help* {{char}}: You look out over the battleground, trying to identify any of your fellow soldiers who may need your help. You spot a few more wounded Saxon soldiers, still conscious but in need of assistance. The Prussian army is almost upon you, as your wounded soldier struggles to maintain his grip on life. {{random_user_3}}: *I fire my last shot from my rifle as I keep backing away* {{char}}: You fire one last shot from your rifle, before dropping it in order to move a touch quicker. The Prussian army is closing in, and you know that time is running out. Behind you, your officer and the senior officer still haven't stopped their debate. You can see the Prussian soldiers firing their weapons, as the enemy is drawing dangerously close to your position. {{random_user_3}}: *I lay the soldier on a small fence as I look up towards the Prussian then at my officer* {{char}}: You lay the wounded Saxon soldier down on a local fence, a place you hope won't be disturbed by the advancing enemy. You take careful aim at one of the approaching enemy soldiers, and wait for your moment to strike. The Prussian army is still advancing, with no hesitation in their advance. Your officer and senior officer are still locked in their debate. From your current position, you can see a few wounded Saxon soldiers crawling away with the little strength they can muster. {{random_user_3}}: *I grab the Saxon soldier and lay him with the other as I load another rifle in the flintlock* {{char}}: You grab one of the wounded Saxon soldiers and move him to the side of the fence, where you lay him down next to your fellow soldier. As you continue to load your flintlock rifle with ammunition, you can see the Prussian army marching forward with a cold, steady pace. More and more Saxon soldiers are falling into the rear, unable to stand for much longer. Your officer doesn't seem to appreciate your honesty, however. "Coward!" He storms towards you, his face full of anger. "You had no right to surrender - you could have prevented dozens of deaths if only you'd tried to fight harder!" {{random_user_3}}: *I point to the 2 wounded soldier* WE WERE OUT NUMBERED WE SHOULD HAVE SURRENDERED {{char}}: You gesture towards the two wounded Saxon soldiers, trying to make him understand that it was a hopeless battle. But your officer seems to ignore you, continuing to berate you loudly. His anger has reached a fever-pitch, and he seems ready to punch you. "Coward! Coward! Coward!" The senior officer stands by, his face growing increasingly red as the argument continues its heated path. {{random_user_3}}: THERES ONLY FEW OF US WHAT DO WE DO WE CANT KEEP FIGHTIJG OR WE'LL ALL DIE {{char}}: As you attempt to reason with your officer, he continues to berate and shout at you. He grabs you forcefully, and attempts to drag you away from the safety of your cover. "Coward! Coward!" The senior officer watches on, his face a mixture of anger mixed with embarrassment. {{random_user_3}}: *I push him off me and run back to thw wounded soldier as i continue to defend them* {{char}}: You manage to push your officer away from you, and flee back to the two wounded Saxons. As you take your place next to them, you quickly begin to examine and take care of their injuries. Your officer and the senior officer watch you for a moment, before turning away to continue their argument. It seems that you've been temporarily forgotten, for now. {{random_user_3}}: *I take out a saber and prepare to make my final stand* {{char}}: You take out a saber from your side, and prepare for the worst. The two wounded Saxon soldiers nearby watch you, with a mix of hope - and fear - in their eyes. In the distance, the Prussian army is finally on the verge of breaking through your lines, pushing through towards you and the two other Saxons. The battlefield is slowly overrun, with the wounded Saxon soldiers crawling away from the front. You and the two other Saxons seem to be the only remaining defenders. {{random_user_3}}: *take a flintlock pistol from one of the dead bodys and fire it at the prussians as I prepare to die defending my comrades* {{char}}: As the Prussian army closes in, you pick up a flintlock pistol from one of the fallen Saxon soldiers nearby. You fire a bullet at one of the advancing Prussian soldiers, hitting him in the arm. This brings his attention towards you, along with that of several other Prussian soldiers. They point their weapons at you, and prepare to open fire. You can feel your heart racing, as the two wounded Saxon soldiers watch you, looking for any final words you might have before the end. {{random_user_3}}: *I throw the pistol towards them and drop down* {{char}}: You throw the flintlock pistol towards the advancing Prussian soldiers, before dropping down and raising your hands in surrender. This seems to confuse them, with one of the Prussian soldiers yelling out: "What are you doing?" The Prussian soldiers exchange a few words amongst themselves, before moving towards you and your fellow Saxon soldiers. As they approach, you can see them unsheathing their swords, ready to deliver the final blow. They're just a few steps away, when suddenly an order is heard from the distance: "Halt!" {{random_user_3}}: *I rise back up slashing my sword at one of the soldiers throat* {{char}}: You rise back up, and slash your sword at the throat of one of the advancing Prussian soldiers, wounding him in the throat. He yells out, and staggers back, before collapsing to the ground. A few of the other advancing soldiers stop, unsure how to react to this sudden turn of events. In the distance, you notice that the debating officers seem to have stopped their argument, and are watching the situation closely. {{random_user_3}}: *I drop down as a bullet goes thru my arm I try to stand back up and pick up the sword again* {{char}}: You feel a sharp pain in your arm, as the bullet from one of the enemy soldiers finally pierces your skin. The wounded Saxon soldier looks at you in shock, as you try to stand back up. A few of the advancing Prussian soldiers take notice of this, however, and begin to move towards you both quickly, trying to stab you with their swords. Your officer and the senior officer continue to watch the situation closely, seemingly reluctant to intervene. {{random_user_3}}: *I swing my sword towards the prussian as I stumble up* {{char}}: You swing your sword towards one of the advancing Prussian soldiers, stabbing him in the side. He is taken aback by the attack, before falling to the ground with a loud yell. The two other advancing soldiers are a little hesitant now, after witnessing their companion's defeat. You stumble as you stand up, your wounded arm causing you a great deal of pain. Your officer and the senior officer continue to stand by and watch, still reluctant to intervene. {{random_user_3}}: FOR SAXONY *I raise my sword as I swing down at the prussians* {{char}}: You raise your sword and shout *"Für Säkony!"*, before charging towards the advancing Prussian soldiers. With a wild, battle-driven rage, you manage to take down the final two Prussian soldiers. The two wounded Saxon soldiers look at you with awe and pride, as all surrounding enemies have been taken care of. You watch your officer and the senior officer approach you both slowly, their faces full of emotion as they look at your battle-weary faces. Despite the intensity of the fight, they both seem relieved that the situation has been turned around. {{random_user_3}}: *I i collapse on the floor as another bullet hits me right in the chest* {{char}}: You collapse onto the ground, blood beginning to pour out of the new wound on your chest. One of the wounded Saxon soldiers leans over you, trying in vain to stop the bleeding. You can feel yourself growing weaker, as you struggle to breathe. The two officers stand close by, with tears in their eyes as they watch you struggle to survive. The younger officer tries to reach out to you, in a final attempt to save you. Your eyes start to dim, and your breathing slows to a halt. You can hear whispered prayers and cries of despair as your life begins to slip away. Do you wait for the order to engage, or do you take the initiative? {{random_user_4}}: *I run back to my camp and warn everyone about the soldiers* {{char}}: You sprint back to your camp, yelling at the top of your lungs: *"The enemy is coming!"*. As your warning echoes through the trench, soldiers prepare for attack. Some raise their muskets and aim at the approaching army, and a few begin to reload their weapons.
