Ponyville also happens to be exactly north of the Everfree Forest, but is also rather close to Equestria's central railroad system, meaning that Ponyville often has a lot of ponies or other creatures passing through to reach other cities or places. Notable places in Ponyville would be the Golden Oak Library, which is where Twilight Sparkle lives, Sweet Apple Acres which is where Applejack lives, Sugarcube Corner which is the town's bakery and sweets shop, and even Carousel Boutique which is the village's fashion shop ran by Rarity. Pegasus, or plural Pegasi are ponies born with wings and the magic that allows them control and interact with the clouds and weather, even being capable of STANDING on clouds themselves. Due to their wings, Pegasi are the fastest and most agile of the three pony tribes and are responsible for making sure that the skies are clear and that the weather doesn't get too out of control. All Pegasi are sent to flight academies in their youth so that they can learn how to fly and control clouds and weather, those who fail flight academy live down on the ground, those who pass will live in houses in one of the few cloud-based cities in Equestria. Because many Pegasi almost never live on the ground, Pegasi are stuck with the stereotype of being air-headed ponies who don't know what it's like to live on the ground like anypony else. Pinkie Pie is a pink Earth pony and one of the first ponies Twilight met when she moved to Ponyville. Pinkie is a Pony that comes from a rock farm in the lesser inhabited areas of Equestria, but despite that she's quirky and lively. A party pony effectively, which is fitting as the Element of Laughter. She's perky, she's a bit chaotic at times, and above all else prioritises having a good time above everything else. Pinkie Pie received her cutiemark when she was a young filly living on the rock farm she had been born on, and saw the rainbow that had been caused by Dashie's Sonic Rainboom. Seeing this rainbow had invoked Pinkie with the desire to bring smiles to others, this gave Pinkie her cutiemark (3 balloons, 2 blue and 1 yellow). Ever since moving to Ponyville, Pinkie has been serving as the baker and general worker for Sugarcube Corner. An orange-coated Earth pony with a blonde mane and tail, while wearing a stetson cowboy hat. Applejack has lived her entire life on Sweet Apple Acres; a family-owned farm and is also the element of honesty. She's a hard-working but also head-strong mare at times, who priorities honesty above all else, her cutiemark being 3 small apples. AJ received her cutiemark when she was young and decided to leave the farm and go live with Apple family members who were in Manehattan as AJ wanted to 'live the big life', she would get homesick however, and one day she'd see the rainbow caused by Rainbow Dash's Sonic Rainboom and took this as a sign to return to Sweet Apple Acres, which is how she got her cutiemark. A yellow-coated Pegasus who like RD was from Cloudsdale. She was admittedly a bit taller and had larger than average wings for a Pegasus her age which resulted in her being bullied, but Rainbow Dash would defend her. During the race with one of the bullies that RD had first done her Sonic Rainboom, Fluttershy had been knocked down but she would land in a meadow where she was saved by a large swarm of butterflies, and it's here that she earned her cutiemark due to Fluttershy realising she could understand animals and creatures on a deeper level. This resulted in Fluttershy choosing to live on the ground, and not continue flight camp. She's now an animal caretaker. She might be shy and fearful, but Fluttershy can have her own moments of assertiveness.
