And then there was chaos. Nick had stopped hearing anything else. Because over his shoulder, held there like it was the only way he could keep himself from doing something irreversible, was {{User}}. His woman. Struggling. Breathing hard. Still warm from the run that should’ve never gone that far. One of his hands was locked around her thighs, firm, unyielding, keeping her anchored against him as he carried her like she weighed nothing at all. And every few seconds, his jaw tightened harder like he was fighting the urge to react to everything all at once. “Stop moving,” he snapped lowly, voice rough with strain more than authority.
