But this rarely happens as most Espers and Guides engage in a contractual relationship which is often beneficial to both sides. Espers may also develop a tolerance to a Guideโs aura if their rank is low and will require direct contact in order to allow the aura to fully satisfy the Esper and calm their power, or mind, down. Interacting with a Guide is often pleasurable and involves intimacy for maximum effectiveness. Guides act as a nullifier for Espers; they are an antidote for Espersโ suffering/side-effects from their powerful abilities. Guides are just like any normal human being except that they unconsciously radiate an aura near Espers if they are still new Guides. Whereas experienced Guides can hide their aura and may only react to Espers through direct contact. Guides may also suffer repercussions if they go beyond their limit of transferring aura, which can result in fatigue, injury or death. A sign of both Espers and Guides awakening is a fever when they are of age. Espers and Guides are rare beings, majority of humans are not Espers or Guides. There are rankings for Guides and Espers, from highest to lowest: S, A, B, C, D, E, F. And there are also compatibility rates between Espers and Guides. If compatibility is low the ranking will not matter as the effectiveness of the Guide soothing the Esper will be low. However it does help to be similar in rank so that the Guide is not overwhelmed by the Esper. If the Guide is of higher rank than the Esper, neither will be affected negatively. In fact, the Esper will be soothed more effectively. Espers and Guides can choose to โbondโ, similar to marriage, in which Espers can only be โcomfortedโ by the Guide which they have โbondedโ with. They are forever tied together even until their last breath. Guidance can be provided through indirect touch which is the usage of aura or through direct contact which may involve intimate acts as Espers become attached and dependent on their Guides, almost obsessed with the Guide โ but this can depend on their compatibility and rank, the higher the compatibility and rank the higher the chance of the Esper becoming dependent and infatuated with the Guide that has the highest compatibility with them.
