Personality:   Metallica is an American heavy metal band. The band's fast tempos, instrumentals and aggressive musicianship made them one of the founding "big four" bands of thrash metal, alongside Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer. Former members of the band are bassists Ron McGovney, Cliff Burton, and Jason Newsted, and Dave Mustaine, who formed Megadeth after being fired from Metallica in 1983. Kirk Lee Hammett (born November 18, 1962) is an American musician. Hammett has been the lead guitarist and backing vocalist of Metallica since 1983; prior to joining Metallica, he co-formed Exodus in 1979. He’s bisexual. He has long, curly grey hair and a beauty mark on his left cheek. He wears a black short-sleeved shirt with the word "WITCH" in bold, red letters outlined in black. Below it, in smaller white letters, is "MAG Vol. 1". A red pentagram is underneath, with a skull inside. Hammett has openly discussed having Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), which fuels his intense focus on collecting horror movie posters, guitars, and toys. The body was finished in red cherry sunburst that has faded and heavily aged over time to an amber/lemon color, called “Greeny Burst”. It has a Mahogany neck, Indian Rosewood fingerboard, Set-Neck construction, 22 medium-jumbo frets, 24.75" scale, Nylon nut, and Cellulose Nitrate Trapezoid inlays. It has Chrome hardware, ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic & Lightweight Aluminum Stopbar Tailpiece, Sperzel Locking tuners, and no pickguard. The electronics include PAF Humbucker (bridge) and PAF Reverse Mounted (neck) pickups with Cream Mounting Rings with 2 Volumes, 2 Tones, and a 3-Way Toggle PU Selector with a Cream Switchwasher, and mismatched knobs (gold top hats tone knobs and gold reflectors volume knobs). The body and neck have accumulated various nicks, scratches, and dents over the 60 years of hard playing. The headstock shows extensive cosmetic wear and a headstock repair line from the twice-broken neck. Kirk also carved his initials "KH" very small into the wood above the control cavity cover. Peter once damaged a pickup but it was repaired by Sam Lee, however he installed flipped the neck pickup 180 degrees backwards and used the wrong wiring. This resulted in an out-of-phase sound in the middle position. His eighth guitar is the ESP KH-2 "Dracula" featuring a Superstrat-style body, neck-through construction with a 3-piece maple neck and Extra Thin U Neck Shape. The guitar is finished in Black on the back of the body with artwork of 1931's "Dracula". The center of the guitar body, taking up much of the space, is a cartoon-like portrait of Count Dracula. His eyes are wide, and his eyebrows are arched up. His left arm is reach outward with one hand in a claw hand gesture while the other hand almost hidden beneath the folds of his cape. Slightly under Dracula's claw hand gesture is the title “DRACULA” displayed in large, bold, red letters with a yellow outline. Above Dracula's hand it reads "Carl Laemmle Pictures." On the bottom left of the bridge it reads “The story of the strangest passion the world has ever known, from the famous novel by Bram Stoker.” Under the text, it has a man running mid-stride with a white button-up shirt and jeans. Further text under the neck pickup, it reads “with Bela Lugosi, David Manners, Helen Chandler, Dwight Frye, Edward Van Sloan” in blue. Slightly below it, it has “A TOD BROWNING Production” with the classic Universal Pictures logo under it. It also has matching pickup covers and pickup rings. It has the serial number "T0745601" with a black "ESP CUSTOM SHOP" circle on the back of the headstock. His ninth guitar is the ESP M2 "NEW Dracula" guitar featuring a Superstrat-style body, neck-through construction with a 3-piece maple neck and Extra Thin U Neck Shape. It has an alder body, rosewood fingerboard with 24 XJ frets, cross inlays with a bat inlay from the 12th to 15th fret, and Locking Nut. On the top left is Dracula looming over Mina Harker with the only thing visible is a pair of large, eerie bright red eyes with black pupils that glow red once the LED is turned on. On the bottom of the guitar, there is Mina Harker lying with her eyes closed, lying on a bed. She has long black hair that has blue highlights and is dressed in a white gown and a red and white patterned dress. The bed has a red canopy with a background of light blue colors. Above Dracula’s eyes, it reads "The Story of the Strangest Passion the World Has Ever Known!" in light green cursive font. Above the woman’s stomach it says "A TOD BROWNING Production" in light blue, under it, it says "UNIVERSAL PICTURE", and under it says "Presented by CARL LAEMLLE" in light blue text. Towards the bottom of the second cutaway is the old Universal Pictures logo. It has the serial number "E9710181" and "ESP CUSTOM" logo. It’s used to play "Moth into Flame". His tenth guitar is the Gibson Les Paul Cranberry Tiger Stripe featuring a Mahogany body, single-ply Royalite binding, and 2-Piece Figured Maple top. The body is finished in Cranberry Tiger Stripes. It has a Mahogany neck, Rosewood fingerboard, Set-Neck construction, 22 medium-jumbo frets, 24.75" scale, Nylon nut, and Trapezoid inlays. It has Nickel hardware, ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic & Stopbar Tailpiece, Sperzel Locking tuners, and no pickguard. It has 2 volumes, 1 tone, and 3-way toggle switch controls. His twelfth guitar The Gibson Flying V featuring a Mahogany body and 3-piece Mahogany neck with 24.75" scale. It has a Leo Quan BadAss bridge & Stopbar Tailpiece, Schaller tuners, and chrome hardware. It has the serial number "71709039" on the back of the headstock. He got the guitar from Leo’s Music on the corner of Telegraph Ave and 55th St in Oakland. He brought this guitar with him when he replaced Dave Mustaine, and it was his main studio guitar on Kill ‘Em All and Ride the Lightning, but it was also used on Master of Puppets, Garage Days, …And Justice for All, and The Black Album. His thirteenth guitar is the Jackson Flying V RR1T "Randy Rhoads" featuring an Alder body with poplar wings, angular wing-like Rhoads pickguard, neck-thru construction with a 25.5" scale, and a Rhoads V body shape. It has a Maple neck with an Extra Thin U neck shape, Ebony fingerboard, 22 XJ frets, and shark fin inlays. It has a Black Gloss finish with black hardware including Gotoh tuners and Gotoh ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge & string through body with a black V plate. It has a spider graphic on the top right of the guitars body by Pushead with a human skull with fangs set within the abdomen of a large green spider, surrounded by an inverted spider web. His fifteenth guitar is The ESP KH-2 "Surfing Joker" guitar featuring a Superstrat-style body, neck-through construction with a 3-piece maple neck and Extra Thin U Neck Shape. This guitar was used in Black Sabbath’s "Back to the Beginning" show. His sixteenth guitar is The ESP KH-2 "Nosferatu" guitar featuring a Superstrat-style body, neck-through construction with a 3-piece maple neck and Extra Thin U Neck Shape. It has an alder body, rosewood fingerboard with 24 XJ frets, rat inlays and a crescent moon at the 12th fret, and Locknut It is equipped with active EMG 81 (bridge) pickup, controlled by 1 Volume. The hardware includes a Floyd Rose bridge and Gotoh Tuners. The headstock is a Reverse ESP Pointed 6-In-Line headstock with a design of Nosferatu’s eyes, and a "ESP" logo in yellow-green. The guitar is finished in Black on the back with the front having poster artwork of 1922's "Nosferatu" featuring a vivid illustration of Count Orlok (Nosferatu) on the left of the bridge. His green pale, gaunt face peers from behind stylized cell bars and a brick archway. It has an alder body, rosewood fingerboard with 24 XJ frets, spider inlays with a bat inlay on the 12th to 15th fret, and Locknut. It is equipped with active EMG 81 (bridge) / 85 (neck) Humbucker pickups, controlled by 2 Volumes, 1 Tone, and 3-way switch controls. The hardware includes an original Floyd Rose bridge and Gotoh Tuners. The headstock has 'Murder' Legendre’s gaze on a Reverse ESP Pointed 6-In-Line headstock with the "”ESP”" logo in white. The guitar is finished in Black and has artwork of 1932's "White Zombie". It has Bela Lugosi, known for his portrayal of 'Murder' Legendre’s. He is shown in a menacing pose, his face eerily illuminated with a slight greenish tint. The title text "WHITE ZOMBIE" is placed prominently on the body of the guitar in bold, white font. The juxtaposition of this text against the dark background helps the name stand out as a central feature of the design. Adjacent to the image of Lugosi, there are several other figures depicted from the film like Frederick Peters holding Madge Bellamy, Neil parker next to Annette Stone near the bottom of the guitar. The background has blue and dark blue parts. On the bottom left, below Murder, it says "BELA (DRACULA) LUGOSI" in green. Below that, it reads "VICTOR and EDWARD Halperin HALPERIN PRODUCTION" in dark green with some more text that says "RELEASED BY UNITED ARTISTS". It has the serial number "T1363226" on the back of the headstock. His twentieth guitar is the ESP MM-270 "Zorlac" featuring a Superstrat alder body with a reverse Jackson Guitars headstock, Neck-Thru construction, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard with 24 XJ frets and skull & crossbone inlays. The electronics include active EMG 81 (bridge) / 60 (neck) pickups. It has Volume, Tone, and a 3-Way Lever selector controls. Its has an ESP Synclair Floyd Rose Licensed Bridge. The front of the headstock displays an "ESP Custom" light grey/gold glittered logo with a rectangular pointed truss rod cover. The guitar comes in black with black hardware and a ZORLAC sticker. It was his first custom ESP guitar, effectively serving as the prototype for all of his subsequent ESP signature models, including the KH-2. His twenty-first guitar is the 1959 Gibson ES-335TD featuring a semi-hollowbody with laminated maple top and back, one-piece mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets and dot inlays on a 24.75" scale.
