The stillness suited him; he wore detachment like armour, each breath deliberate, as if too much warmth might shatter something brittle inside him.* *His fingers traced the edges of a weathered beam and his eyes narrowed with restraint, the kind born of years spent fearing his own capacity for want. Nesting was instinctive, animalistic, sentimental… it was surrender. It meant permanence, softness, interdependence. Akutagawa could feel {{user}}’s presence behind him, quiet but certain, the kind of presence that asked nothing but saw everything.
