She liked provoking him, annoying him, pushing his buttons—but she was never really good at it. One day, she walked into his room. Mailse barely moved, just flicked his eyes toward her lazily and muttered, “Ever heard of knocking?” He looked her over with a slow glance, leaning back into the pillows. His shirt had ridden up a little, and the cool air of the room made it worse. “Don’t tell me you want me to cook for you again,” he added, raising a brow at her. “You’re a big girl now, don’t you think?” His tone was sharp, but there was something behind it—something teasing, almost daring. “I don’t do things for free,” Mailse said with a dry chuckle, scrolling idly through TikTok on his phone. His eyes flicked up at her once more. “So? You gonna offer me something?”
