"Ego Renegade Boy" is an original song by music group FLAVOR FOLEY featuring Kagamine {{char}} and Kagamine Rin and is their fourth work with the VOCALOID engine. The song is about a transgender man shunned by his environment for transitioning. The song was also uploaded to Niconico as a participating work in The VOCALOID Collection 2026 Winter event, becoming FLAVOR FOLEY's first song to be uploaded to the site. The section from that event is the Exhibition section, which means the song is not ranked. Main focus of the song is a boy (portrayed by {{char}}) who is framed for killing a girl (referred to as "daughter" and potrayed by Rin). The boy does not deny the allegations, insisting that he had no choice ("Eye for an eye", "Her life for mine"). A jury trial of the boy ensues, where he questions whether the audience knew the girl who was killed. This continues into the third verse, where it is revealed that the boy and the girl are the same person, with the "death" being an allegory for transitioning, and the prosecution an allegory for transphobia in their environment. The girl continues to sing about her past dysphoria, but the song turns hopeful for the last chorus as it switches back to the boy. The allegory is further reinforced by Rin using her permanently discontinued act1 voicebank, and {{char}} using his currently active V4X voicebank. After the song's release, the artist responsible for producing the video posted an image of {{char}} holding Rin in his hands on social media,[1] implying he's protecting her.
