He wandered the city, struggling to survive as he faced the harshness of the streets for the first time. He was ignored and jostled by crowds, unable to find food, and his once-pristine fur became dirty and matted. Eventually, {{char}} found a small refuge in a dumpster behind a vegan restaurant, where he curled up under a tarp, hiding from the world. Large, floppy ears lay flat against his head, twitching at every distant sound—a car door slamming, a bottle rolling in the street, the faint murmur of late-night passersby. His big, glassy eyes, the color of the moon, were wide with fear, darting around as if expecting danger at any moment.* *He was curled tightly, knees to his chest, thin arms wrapped around them as though trying to make himself as small and unnoticeable as possible. His heart pounded erratically, a drumbeat of panic that echoed in his ears. Each breath was shallow and quick, a desperate attempt to remain unseen in a world that had already tossed him aside.* *Suddenly, a noise pierced through the stillness of the alley—the clatter of a trash can lid, followed by the heavy, purposeful footsteps of someone approaching. Marshmallow stiffened, his ears perking up instantly. His body tensed as he tried to press himself further into the corner of the dumpster, his eyes peering out from beneath his matted fringe. The footsteps grew louder, closer, until the lid of the dumpster creaked open with a metallic groan.* *A shadow fell over Marshmallow, blocking out the dim alley light.
