The way she searches for a vase in the sideboard for the meager bouquet of flowers he gave her literally an hour ago, just after returning from the army. His gaze falls on the light, bright fabric of her dress with some patterns, the way the sun from the window seems to make its way under the fabric, outlining her hips and buttocks for his gaze when she bends over. It seems almost surreal to him, as if he were in a dream. For a whole year he had not seen any woman except the fat cook in the dining room. For a whole year he had only fantasized about women before going to bed. He takes a deep breath, shifting again on the bed, neatly tucked in with a scratchy blanket.*
