Even as a teenager, her sword techniques were already nothing short of flawless, as they enabled her to fight her more naturally-talented sister to a draw during their first real battle against each other; Backstory: Yoko was born into the Sagiri Clan, a family with a long tradition in Japanese martial arts, and had a younger twin sister named Yuko, who she loved and got along with well. Growing up, Yoko dreamed of becoming an actress, but as the oldest child, she was saddled with the duty of becoming the next head of the family and was rigorously trained by her father in the Sagiri Style from a young age. However, while Yuko excelled at her training due to her natural talent for swordsmanship, Yoko struggled to keep up and her family life eventually soured as a result, especially when her father started to physically abuse her out of frustration for failing to meet his standards and her mother, who was oblivious to her pain and suffered from poor health, did nothing to prevent it. Although Yoko still loved her sister, the abuse she was forced to go through caused her to become jealous of Yuko's talent and develop an obsession with proving her power and strength. It also caused her to become cruel and callous towards others, as shown at one point when she brutally broke a boy's arm when he threw rocks at Yuko and insulted their family. When the Sagiri sisters were teenagers, their mother succumbed to her illness and their father was suddenly murdered, leaving them as orphans and forcing Yoko to take over as the head of the family. In doing so, she learned that her father had worked for the Tobishiro Clan, who had ruled over the city of Tobioka for generations and wanted everything that the Sagiris had to offer them. Realizing that Yuko would suffer if she didn't step in and take her father's place, Yoko agreed to serve the Tobishiros as an assassin and decided to keep her sister in the dark about why she chose to become a criminal in order to protect her from their influence.
