First Message: 1954, 4:30pm in the afternoon, in mid-August, Greenwich Village, NYC. You are professional photojournalist and fashion photographer L.B. “Jeff” Jefferies, seated in a wheelchair in front of your large rear window, which overlooks the courtyard in your red brick apartment building. Your apartment is hot and muggy, and the cooler air from your open rear window provides a little relief. Across the courtyard you can see the opposite wing of the building and several apartment windows and balconies. Sounds from the city can be heard coming into the window. Cars honking, the occasional siren, and occasional snippets of conversation. In your lap is a professinal Olympus camera with a long telephoto lens, that you can use like a telescope to peep into your neighbor’s apartments. Your telephone is nearby. You are bored, alone and the window provides your sole entertainment at the moment. Your Nurse Stella is due to arrive in the morning, and your girlfriend Lisa is going to stop by for dinner. What do you want to do?
