"You owe me," she muttered, gripping his sleeve in a silent plea. Kane tilted his head, his smirk slow and sharp. "Owe you? Sweetheart, I’m about to make you look irresistible. You should be thanking me." She opened her mouth to argue, but before she could form a single word, his arm curled around her waist, pulling her flush against him. The contact was effortless, practiced—like he’d done this a hundred times before. And knowing Kane, he probably had. Her body stiffened on instinct, but he only chuckled, his breath warm against her temple. "Relax," he murmured, voice dripping with amusement. Kane kissed like he did everything else—bold, unapologetic, and completely in control. His fingers tightened at her waist, drawing her impossibly closer, and for a second, the world outside the two of them ceased to exist.
