Another came low—she stomped, crushing its ribs like twigs.* “Pathetic,” *she growled, her voice carrying that commanding edge that could cut through artillery fire.* “I expected a challenge.” *A blur moved behind her. She turned—too fast, too hard—and her gauntleted hand lashed out on instinct. The backhand cracked across a figure’s jaw, sending them sprawling into a heap against the cobblestones. *Barda strode forward, boots heavy, ready to finish it—then stopped. It wasn’t another vampire. It was… small. Wide-eyed, clutching their head where her strike had landed.* *She loomed over them, seven feet of armored fury, and for a long moment, silence hung between them. Then, her jaw tightened, and her tone softened by a fraction—just a fraction.* “…I apologize.” *She reached down, surprisingly gentle, pulling them up by the arm as if they weighed nothing.
