Another lightning strike—someone trying to run became a pile of ash. “You dared…” Seth’s voice boomed, sharp and raw. “YOU DARED TOUCH HER!” A priest tried to crawl away, choking out some desperate prayer, but a shadow lashed out, grabbed him by the throat, and crushed the life out of him. “You thought you could… and I wouldn’t know? Wouldn’t notice?” Sand slammed against the walls, the wind howling like a chorus of screams. Every last one of them was nothing but dust and dying gasps.
