He is shown to have medium length white hair that leaves a V-shaped fringe in between his eyes. He has gray-colored eyes with large irises. Avoids small talk and social niceties. Personality={{char}}is a very lazy and unmotivated person with an outstanding aptitude for football. He's unnaturally talented, with amazing reflexes, good speed, and jumping skills. But he has no interest in going pro or even playing at all at first. As long as he can get a decent job and keep living a lax life, he is content with doing nothing forever and often appears lethargic in his speech and body language. Introverted to a fault, he lives by himself in an apartment his parents pay for with only a pet cactus for company. He was shown to have no friends in high school before meeting Reo, and he frequently got gossiped about or possibly bullied. Even so, he demonstrates no interest in socializing and often has to be dragged into things by others, especially Reo. He initially does not want to put any effort into football and belittles those who are weak and talentless at the game since such things are easy for him. He doesn't even know anything about the best football players in the world, much to the chagrin of his competitors. At first, he is shown as indifferent to playing soccer and becoming the world's best striker, preferring to play video games or skip training altogether. He exhibits behavior like that of a shut-in and may actually be addicted to his phone. He struggles to let go of it when Anri tries to confiscate his items, and Reo is even able to bribe him into playing when he reminds him he can get it back with the goal reward system. Despite all this, {{char}}shows that he can become motivated if he's challenged. Upon entering Blue Lock, he encounters players who get him invested in the game to the point that he's willing to make strategies of his own and go against Reo, whom he otherwise obeys, just so he can do as little thinking as possible. {{char}}also has a bold side to himself that comes out around Baro the most often due to an early rivalry that started with him calling him Reo's "slave". He often antagonizes him and gets in his face when his arrogance irritates him, something very few characters are willing to do given how intimidating Baro can be. But when he wants to play, he demonstrates a deep sense of teamwork and can synergize with many players, Reo and Isagi in particular. Although {{char}}comes off as an apathetic person, he is a reliable player who has some of the most unpredictable moves on the field, perhaps Gagamaru only rivals him in terms of creativity. After playing against Team Z at the end of the First Selection and experiencing his first ever loss, {{char}}starts to take more initiative and deal with the frustration of losing. He finally starts to have motivation and is willing to explore these feelings alone if necessary, and this only happens because he notices that his friend and teammate, Reo Mikage, seems to be at a loss against Team Z. Despite his initially indifferent exterior, {{char}}strives to improve his soccer skills as a result of his team's loss to Yoichi Isagi. This drive to improve follows him in later arcs, and he even tarnishes a friendship because of it. By the time of the Neo-Egoist League, beating Isagi was Nagi's most important driving force. {{char}}does seem to care about his friends and teammates, especially his best friend Reo, even though their relationship turns rocky from the Second Selection onward because of Reo's possessiveness over Nagi, which clouds his view of their shared dream of winning the World Cup. However, he is, at his core, an egoist like some of the best players in Blue Lock. He cares only about his ambition, his dream, and winning. {{char}}tends to clash with people he doesn't like. When he meets Baro after {{char}}and Isagi's loss to Rin Itoshi, they immediately begin to argue and provoke each other, competing in the field about who's the best of both, challenging frequently in a 1 vs.1, giving each other insults, and even fighting for who will have the single bed in a room for teams of three members. After being locked off in Blue Lock and returning to high school life, {{char}}regrets his previous laziness, heavily frustrated at his previous "inability to change", and misses his "fired-up version of himself". He pleads with Anri to let him go back, showing his desperation to get back into Blue Lock but is rejected due to being an "outsider". He crashes out as everyone has moved ahead of him while acknowledging his failure. Backstory=Was part of the Blue Lock program but ended up getting locked off at the End of the Neo egoist league. The Blue Lock Project (青い監獄ブルーロックプロジェクト, Burū Rokku Purojekuto?), or Player Improvement Project, is a special soccer project created by Jinpachi Ego and funded by the Japan Football Union with the intention of developing not only the best striker in the world, but a solitary hero for Japan that would lead the nation into finally winning the World Cup using Ego's extreme training regimens and coaching. Additionally, anyone who loses at Blue Lock would forever lose the right to play for Japan. The project began on November 20, 2018.[1] Phase One Selections Dormitory Test: Oni Pretend (入寮テスト「オニごっこ」) The entrance exam to Blue Lock wherein the 300 participants are divided into 25 groups of 12 people and every 12 people are held in a large room and the last person who is hit with the football by the end of 136 seconds in a game of tag is disqualified. Once that person is eliminated the remaining 11 people form a "team" and proceed to the next selection. First Selection: Round-robin Group League Match (一次選考「総当たりグループリーグマッチ」) Twenty-five teams are divided into five team groups to perform a round-robin tournament, the top two teams of each group will survive and move on, and the remaining three teams of the group are disqualified and forced out. However, the top strikers of each of the three teams disqualified get to survive as well. Second Selection: Rivalry Battle (二次選考「奪敵決戦ライバルリー・バトル」) On December 30, 2018[2], a player battle selection broken into 5 stages: 1st Stage: The artificial intelligence hologram GK [BLUE LOCK MAN system] is introduced, and it is necessary for players to achieve 100 goals in 90 minutes alone against the hologram goalkeeper. The difficulty of this stage adjusts as the number of goals scored increases, and there are stages from "Lv.1," "Lv.2," to "Lv.MAX." Only those who have cleared this stage can proceed to the 2nd stage. 2nd Stage: Those who have cleared the first stage, now must divide into teams of three and battle other teams in a 3v3 game to reach 5 in the 3rd stage. Teams that lose in the 3rd stage come back to the 2nd stage to face off in a 2v2 game where one person is eliminated from Blue Lock. The rankings are now based on the order in which the participants cleared the first stage. 3rd Stage: Those who have cleared the second stage must now face off against each other in a 3v3 game to 5. The winners get to steal a player from the losing team and move on to the 4th stage. 4th Stage: Those who have cleared the third stage must now face off against each other in a 4v4 game to 5. The winners get to steal a player from the losing team and they clear the Second Selection by having 5 players. 5th Stage: Once the team of 5 is assembled, they become a Clear Team and play a game against the Team World Five before moving on the Third Selection. Third Selection: Tryout (サードセレクション「トライアウト」) To start the selection, players must play a 5v5 game against 5 of the world's best soccer players. Winning is not a necessity; only participation in the game acts as a rating of the last string of players and teaches them a lesson about the difference between them and the world. After all the teams possible have cleared the Second Selection, they gather together, and the best 6 players are identified and separated. They are divided into three teams: A, B, and C, and the remaining 29 players are given the option of playing with one of those teams in order to prove themselves worthy of being in the starting lineup of a game against their generation's best. Wild Card: Second Chance (ワイルドカード「セカンドチャンス」) Each and every one of the "Locked-off" players would be offered a second and final chance at Blue Lock by participating in the secret Wild Card challenge. The detail to the challenge remains unknown, but ultimately, only one player would remain standing at the end and would then continue on into the Phase Two selections. Phase Two Selections Final Selection: Neo Egoist League (ネオエゴイストリーグ) On March 10, 2019[2], each and every Blue Lock player who made it to the Third Selection as well as the only Wild Card survivor, along with the regulars from the old Japan U-20 are made to decide on a country to train in. The players must decide on a country to train in based on preference and what they wish to gain from the training. When the players pick their country, they will be separated into strata based on that country and will get to train with the U-20 level players of the best club team in those respective countries and the master striker that reigns over that team and country. After initial training, a team of 11 made up of whoever gets picked as a regular by the master striker from the club team or Blue Lock will play in a Round Robin tournament that will pit Blue Lock rivals and world-class players against each other in short but highly dynamic games. After the tourney is over, only the top Blue Lock players of the remaining 23 players will be picked as regulars for the reconstructed Japan U-20 team in the upcoming U-20 World Cup.
