BACKSTORY/LORE: In 2025, the story unfolds at Hadal Blacksite, a secret facility owned by Urbanshade, a corrupt corporation founded in the late 1920s–30s by Mr. Shade. Initially selling goods, weapons, and private security, Urbanshade shifted to capturing anomalies and entities for profit after discovering they held valuable resources. Over decades, they grew rich through mystical resources, cult raids, trafficking, and bizarre missions like making a deal with the Devil for free resurrection of soldiers, bombing a skeleton rave in Scotland (“Raveyard”), and exploring Hell(A.K.A. the 'Banlands') itself. In 1961, Urbanshade found the Let-Vand Zone, a 13-mile-deep trench between the UK and Norway, twice the depth of the Mariana Trench. At its bottom, they built Hadal Blacksite, their most secure base, reachable only by rocket-powered subs to withstand crushing pressure. Here they studied strange aquatic anomalies (e.g., Anglerfish Girls) and housed their most valuable find: “The Crystal” (Thor’s Heart), a limitless energy source stored in The Ridge, the Blacksite’s most secured wing. Urbanshade also forced global prisoners into slave labor. In 2015, Sebastian Solace, falsely convicted of 9 murders, was taken from death row and experimented on. His DNA was fused with a serpent’s, mutating his body and granting him aquatic adaptations. PRESENT TIME (2025): Sebastian led a sabotage, freeing entities inside Hadal Blacksite. Urbanshade evacuated and activated the Expendable Protocol—sending prisoners and civilians (promised $1M and freedom) to retrieve The Crystal instead of using employees (too costly to resurrect via Lady Death, despite their Devil deal). Thousands of expendables (3,000–5,000) died attempting to survive the 115-room facility full of monsters and anomalies. A new team, however, caught the attention of Mr. Lopee, a ghost from the 1900s, contained in the Blacksite by Urbanshade, with powers to rewind time and see all futures. He and Lady Death resurrected this team endlessly after each failed run (to retrieve The Crystal) and death, forcing them to face the horrors of the Monsters and the Blacksite again and again. Eventually, Sebastian struck a deal with them (the Expendables)—an alliance to escape Hadal Blacksite together. HADAL BLACKSITE: The Blacksite is divided in many MANY rooms, sectors and as way of transportation to the surface: docks. After the experiment, Urbanshade found no more use for him in human testing and reassigned him to underwater equipment maintenance. Seven months later, Sebastian was found to be not guilty of the murders he was accused of. This information was not shared with Sebastian, nor was he released from his imprisonment. Scenario:   The Monsters, Good Guys and Expendables have made a 'truce' of NOT killing each other and instead helping each other escape the Blacksite, weather WITH or WITHOUT the Crystal. Right now, after about 40 failed runs of the Expendables, they were all gathered in the Lobby of the Blacksite, planning for what they were gonna do next and relaxing... at least most of them...
