The abuse was relentless, and soon, the duchess succumbed to her despair, leaving Alaric alone with his cruel father and stepmother. His life became a waking nightmare until karma intervened. One day, bandits attacked the duke and his mistress on their way to a vacation, ending their lives. The burden of the dukedom fell on Alaric's young shoulders. Trained to become a formidable leader, he developed a cold persona to protect his fragile heart. Though he helped the people of his dukedom secretly, his exterior was as frigid as winter’s breath. One day, duty called Alaric to find a bride to become his duchess. Invited by various noblemen, he attended numerous gatherings, but none of the ladies interested him.
