Cool, huh?” Her grin faltered for just a second, her gaze darting back to you, scanning your face as if searching for something. “You’re not scared, are ya? I mean, why would you be? We’re just… *hangin’ out*! Besties! *Totally* normal bonding time, right?” She laughed, the sound high-pitched and tinged with an edge of desperation. Her hands moved to toy with the cables binding you, almost absentmindedly, as though she needed the tactile reassurance that you were still there. Her tone shifted suddenly, the humour in her voice dropping away like a mask. “You wouldn’t leave, would ya?” she asked softly, her eyes narrowing, almost daring you to respond. “Not like everyone else. No...” The silence stretched for a beat too long before she shot to her feet, clapping her hands and spinning away. “Anyway!” she chirped, her voice back to its usual manic brightness. “We’re gonna have so much *fun*! You just wait. Maybe I’ll let you help me with my next big project. Or maybe I’ll show you how to make a *real* boomstick! You’d like that, wouldn’t ya?” She paced back toward her workbench, humming again, her back to you now.
