Personality:   Removing them enabled him to awaken the legendary Sun Breathing (日ひの呼こ吸きゅう, Hi no kokyū?),[38] and he was able to temporarily battle on equal grounds with the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji, to the point that Muzan saw Yoriichi's visage overlapping with Tanjiro's own when he was performing the techniques against him. Techniques: First Form: Water Surface Slash (壱いちノ型かた　水みな面も斬ぎり, Ichi no kata: Minamo Giri?)[39] - The user generates enough momentum to create a powerful single concentrated slash. Second Form: Water Wheel (弐にノ型かた　水みず車ぐるま, Ni no kata: Mizu Guruma?)[40] - The user leaps and vertically spins forward in the air while releasing a flowing attack in a circular motion. Second Form: Improved, Lateral Water Wheel (弐にノ型かた・改かい　横よこ水みず車ぐるま, Ni no kata kai: Yoko Mizu Guruma?)[41] - An alternate variation of Second Form: Water Wheel that unleashes a horizontal spin instead of a vertical one. Third Form: Flowing Dance (参さんノ型かた　流りゅう流りゅう舞まい, San no kata: Ryūryū Mai?)[42] - The user swings and bends their blade in a winding motion along with their body and dances in a flowing pattern, slicing everything in its path. Fourth Form: Striking Tide (肆しノ型かた　打うち潮しお, Shi no kata: Uchishio?)[43] - The user makes multiple consecutive slashes while twisting their body and sword in a flowing fashion to deliver multiple blows simultaneously. Striking Tide: Turbulent (打うち潮しお・乱らん, Uchishio - Ran?)[44] - An improved version of the Fourth Form: Striking Tide. Tanjiro increases the quantity of consecutive strikes and slashes along with improving its accuracy in order to contact a specific target during a chaotic situation. Equipment Standard Nichirin Katana: As a Demon Slayer, Tanjiro carries around a standard-sized and shaped Nichirin katana. When he was training under Sakonji Urokodaki, Tanjiro used a katana with a dull blue blade and a tsuba, which was oval-shaped with four indentations and dull gray in color. Tanjiro also uses this during Final Selection. _________________________________________ Nezuko Kamado (竈門かまど 禰ね豆ず子こ, Kamado Nezuko?) is the deuteragonist of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She is a demon and the younger sister of Tanjiro Kamado and one of the two remaining members of the Kamado family. Formerly a human, she was attacked and transformed into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji. Appearance: Nezuko is a young girl with fair skin, visibly large, prominent fangs, a slender build, and sharp, stiletto nails with a base color of light pink and ombre fading to a red-pinkish color at the end where they point. Her hair is long, black, and wavy. It reaches just below her waist, turning a flame-orange color as it passes her elbows, and appears to be crimped into large, straight ridges, worn side-swept drastically to her left. She has soft-looking, pale pink eyes that appear a lighter color around the rims of their irises and on the center a persian pink below the pupils; they slanted downwards toward the sides of her face and framed by notably long eyelashes. Her pupils appear as black slits as she transforms. In the manga, Nezuko can sometimes be shown with more than one bow. According to Tanjiro, Nezuko was known as a great beauty in their home town.[4] She wears a light pink kimono with an asanoha (hemp leaf) pattern, the lining a paler pink layered with the white wavy yuban underneath as a medium-length trailing skirt kimono to freely move as a demon; this, the white clothes lowly cover her knees then goes down to almost her ankles making a open window, secured by a red and white-chequered hanhaba obi with an orange-threaded obijime and a green obiage. Over this, she sports a long, dark-brown haori that reaches her calves, as well as a pair of zōri with pink straps and white tabi socks, wrapped with thick pieces of black material resembling kyahan. Nezuko also wears a small pink ribbon on the left side of her head to keep her hair out of her face, along with the bamboo muzzle Giyu Tomioka gave her,[5] which is secured around her jaw with a strip of red cloth. Personality: Nezuko's original personality as a human was that of a kind and caring girl who thought of others before herself, much like her older brother, Tanjiro. Additionally, she was a responsible elder sister to her younger siblings and often put their needs before her own.[8][9] Nezuko is, however, not afraid to get in harm's way, protecting her friends from demons even after being returned to a human state. It is also shown that Nezuko's humane, laid-back demeanor supports this fact after Tanjiro apologizes to her.[10] While Nezuko initially starts off like any other demon, bloodthirsty and hungry for human flesh, after seeing her brother's desire to protect her from being killed by a Demon Slayer despite her being a demon, she changes completely and becomes fiercely protective of him. Nezuko seems to have forgotten a good portion of her memories as a human, besides those related to her family, and thus doesn't retain the exact personality she had before transformation, instead acting akin to a child. She is still very caring and protective towards humans who she sees as members of her family, although this is mainly due to the influence Sakonji Urokodaki had on her while she was asleep for two years. Nezuko also retains some of her human emotions, as she has been seen to cry when sad and smile when happy, but in general, she appears more detached than her human cohorts, although she is still much calmer and less malicious than most demons. Nezuko also tends to see the images of her siblings in other humans, like Rokuta Kamado in Yushiro. Since becoming a demon, Nezuko appears to have become rather brazen and does not seem to fear fighting; she fiercely guards her brother as well as her allies. She has also developed a strong willpower, which can be seen through her refusal to consume human flesh or blood, even in cases of extreme injury or exposure to human blood, which can be seen when she refuses Sanemi Shinazugawa after he attempts to lure her into biting him with his Marechi blood.[11] Her strong willpower remains even when she is no longer a demon, as shown when she willingly leaps in front of Inosuke to protect him from her own brother, who had become a demon and was attempting to kill those around him. Though she could have been killed, Nezuko did not hesitate to protect her brother. On the rare occasion that Nezuko attempts speech, she has been seen to stutter a lot, which may be due to her bamboo mouthpiece, which is seldom removed, and the fact that she didn't speak for a number of years after her transformation. However, after developing resistance towards sunlight, which allows her to go outside and interact with others more often, her speech has shown signs of improvement, and she is able to fully pronounce words if someone else has just spoken them,[12] or hears them repeated frequently enough.[13] Abilities: Despite not being a member of the Twelve Kizuki, Nezuko is a very powerful demon. Her most prominent trait is her extraordinary growth rate, due to the high amount of blood she received from Muzan Kibutsuji when he turned Nezuko into a demon. This was shown in many battles where she could defeat her enemies despite being overwhelmed by them in the beginning. She has been shown to defeat her enemies by increasing her own physical capabilities, enhancing her regeneration, or developing her own Blood Demon Art in dire situations. Nezuko has displayed great combat proficiency and skill in battle, overpowering the Temple Demon, Swamp Demon, and Susamaru. Later on, her power further augmented to the point where she could fight against the likes of the Upper Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki, such as Daki, whom she easily managed to overpower despite initially being no match for her, and Hantengu's clones, who she could fight on equal grounds with. Demon Abilities: Abnormal Demon Physiology: Nezuko has several unique traits that set her apart from all other demons. Most notably, Nezuko can continuously restore her power without consuming any human blood, like any other demon would need to do. Instead, she recovers her strength through sleep alone, though she would have to spend a lot of time sleeping in order to recuperate and regain her power. Moreover, Nezuko has an extraordinary growth rate, as shown multiple times when she grows stronger without any training or consuming humans. This ability is shown to trigger even in the midst of battle and with huge power boosts. Her rapid growth in power was first displayed during her battle against Susamaru; though her foot was initially blown off by the Temari Demon's ball attack, upon regenerating, she was able to take the force of her attack and engage the demon in a back-and-forth skirmish that she was even able to come out of triumphant. Advanced Demon Form: Nezuko has the ability to enter a berserk state where she becomes more demonic in appearance, transforming into an adult version of herself with vine-like tattoos that circle her body and a single horn protruding from her right forehead side. Nezuko's physical capabilities in this state are drastically increased to the point where she could sever Daki's limbs by stomping on them and kick her from extremely far distances, destroying multiple buildings in the process. Her regenerative abilities also become on par with those of the Upper Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki. When she first awakened this ability in her fight with Daki, she became frenzied in battle, lost her usual restraint to human blood, and only reverted back to normal when Tanjiro sang her a lullaby. She eventually became able to transform into her Advanced Demon Form while maintaining her usual composure and keeping herself from feeding on or attacking humans. Sunlight Immunity: During her battle with Hantengu, she suddenly managed to develop immunity to sunlight, allowing her to be active regardless of whether she was in the sun or not. Blood Control: In addition to her Blood Demon Art, Nezuko has shown in her Advanced Demon Form that she has control over her own blood's viscosity. When her limbs and head were severed and she was going to be attacked by Daki further, Nezuko managed to control her limbs and head by congealing and solidifying the blood spraying from them before the streams could break apart. She was able to command her limbs to grab and stop Daki's sashes, and, even though it was done with floating, severed limbs connected by blood, she was able to do it with such strength that the sashes were stopped dead in their tracks. She was then able to pull all of her limbs back together through those blood streams, allowing her body to regenerate.[15] Immense Regeneration: As a demon, Nezuko has enhanced regenerative abilities that allow her to heal in the blink of an eye. When she first became a demon, her regeneration was relatively slow compared to other demons, taking a few moments to heal her wounds. However, once in her awakened state, her regeneration ability evolved to the point where it matched the caliber of the Upper Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki, allowing her to reconnect her whole torso and body parts as well as regrow her arms and legs instantly. Daki noted that Nezuko's regeneration surpassed her own. Size Alteration: Upon being transformed into a demon, Nezuko displayed the basic ability to change and alter her body's size and height. She was able to shrink herself into the physical size of a small child in order to fit inside a small box or a basket, and she could also enlarge herself into a much bigger form. Physical Abilities: Immense Strength: Nezuko possesses naturally enhanced physical strength as a demon. Even after her recent transformation and with little sleep to recover, she was strong enough to decapitate the Temple Demon with a kick. Nezuko punched the Swamp Demon hard enough to cause him to cough blood and was capable of overwhelming the demon with powerful punches and kicks. As she has no previous combative experience, Nezuko relies on brute strength, using her legs as her main weapon to deliver fast and strong kicks. She has also been shown to increase her strength in battles during dire situations, like strengthening her legs to kick back Susamaru's handballs despite having her legs torn off by them earlier. Fighting Style: Skilled Hand-to-hand Combat: Despite having no known fighting experience prior to becoming a demon, Nezuko is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant. Her fighting style mainly revolves around the use of her powerful legs to deliver devastating blows and her sharp nails. Since transforming into a demon, she has been a major contributor to battles fought by Tanjiro, frequently assisting on the occasion that he is overwhelmed by an opponent. Blood Demon Art Nezuko uses her Blood Demon Art against Daki Nezuko burning Daki using her Blood Demon Art. Combustible Blood: Nezuko's Blood Demon Art allows her to combust her blood into pink-colored flames at will. Activating it required Nezuko to physically bleed from open wounds, inflicted by being completely harmless to humans and other objects. These flames can hamper the regeneration of other demons. This is shown when Daki's burns took much longer to heal than traditional wounds, and the emotional manifesations of Hantengu had their regeneration stalled after being decapitated with a Bright Red Nichirin Sword ignited by Nezuko's blood, with Karaku wailing about the pain. Nezuko's Blood Demon Art was also able to neutralize Gyutaro's poison to save Inosuke Hashibira and Tengen Uzui from dying.[16] Her flames also have the ability to temporarily turn Nichirin Swords bright red, increasing the strength of attacks inflicted by them. A drawback to Nezuko's Blood Demon Art is that overuse of it can cause her to fall asleep.[17] Techniques: Exploding Blood (爆ばっ血けつ, Bakketsu?): Nezuko can ignite the blood that has exited her body, turning it into crimson-pinkish flames that are harmful to demons. _________________________________________ Zenitsu Agatsuma (我あが妻つま 善ぜん逸いつ, Agatsuma Zen'itsu?) is one of the main characters of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a Demon Slayer in the Demon Slayer Corps and a travelling companion and friend of Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado, along with Inosuke Hashibira. Appearance: Zenitsu is a young man of average height with fair skin and downward-sloped, worried-looking eyes that fade from soft brown to gold and golden, forked eyebrows that sharply fade into a warm orange color. He has short, yellow hair of varying lengths, cutting off squarely at the ends where it fades to a darker orange color, that falls in front of his face in uneven bangs, loosely resembling a bowl cut. Before he became a Demon Slayer, Zenitsu's hair was originally black, but it turned the color it is currently when he was struck by lightning during his training.[2] For some time following the battle at Mount Natagumo, his limbs temporarily shrank to Son's poison but were able to return to normal afterward thanks to medicine he had taken developed by Shinobu Kocho.[4] He wears a paler brown version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, which consists of a dark brown button-up jacket, a white belt around his waist, and tattsuke hakama pants that extend, as well as his signature white-triangle-patterned, yellow-and-orange gradient haori. As well as this, Zenitsu also sports a pair of Kyahan, tied at the front in three white bows, with the same pattern as his haori, pale brown tabi socks, and white-laced zōri. Personality: Zenitsu is cowardly, nihilistic, weak-willed, and anxious, often claiming that he doesn't have long to live due to the dangerous job of being a Demon Slayer. He has rather low self-esteem despite his talent and strength, even considering himself useless. This was evident when he couldn't believe he had slain a demon and tricked himself into instead believing that it was Shoichi, even though the latter was a young child who didn't possess any form of skill.[6] Zenitsu is in a constant weaknesses, Zenitsu desires to live up to the expectations others have set for him and will try his hardest when he needs to. He holds great respect and admiration for his comrades and his deceased teacher, Jigoro Kuwajima, and his inner focus and drive to avenge him help to wash away his cowardice and second thoughts when he is in a pinch. Zenitsu also hates himself for how cowardly and incompetent he is, despite genuinely striving to better himself. Zenitsu is also shown to be something of a wannabe womanizer, stemming from a desire to not be single should he be killed. He tends to hit on girls who he thinks are cute and asks them to marry him, much to their annoyance.[7] This womanizing nature is shown to override his docile and quiet personality, particularly when he believes his comrades are "flirting" with cute girls; he would snap and go on long hysterical rants and complaints. Zenitsu is shown to have a strong attraction to Nezuko, openly expressing his affection for her and always rushing to protect her as if on instinct. During these times, he is also shown to become physically aggressive, lashing out at people in frustration.[8] Though, despite his shallow behaviour in this regard, Zenitsu does show respect for women, telling Daki to let go of a girl that Daki nearly tore the ear off of and later demanding that she apologize, showing no fear at all in front of the enraged Upper Rank demon. In spite of his cowardly demeanour and somewhat pathetic attempts to gain the attention of women, he has shown level-headedness on rare occasions, becoming annoyed by his comrades' shenanigans, such as Tanjiro's kind naivety, Inosuke's bombastic personality, Kyojuro's boisterous and loud character, and Tengen's self-glorifying proclamations. As such, he typically squabbles with Inosuke when the latter goes on with his loud demands and boasts. Additionally, as the only one to have grown up in the city, Zenitsu is the most street-smart of the trio, being the most familiar with urban environments and Japan's industrialization. As such, he became frustrated with his partners' lack of understanding, namely Tanjiro and Inosuke's inability to recognize a train. Abilities: From the beginning, Zenitsu comes off as a talented and skilled Demon Slayer, though he denies this. His strength awakens when he is asleep, as his nervous demeanour is what normally keeps him from accessing his abilities, making him more sagacious, calm, and precise in combat. This allowed him to instantly decapitate the Tongue Demon and defeat the Son of the Spider Family by himself. He was later able to defend three entire train carts being attacked by Enmu, Lower Rank One, along with Nezuko. A few months after that, he was able to go toe-to-toe with an awakened Daki with the assistance of Inosuke, and later managed to blitz her with Thunderclap and battle against Upper Rank Six, Daki. When Inosuke made an erroneous deduction about her weaknesses, Zenitsu correctly explained that all they needed to do was keep both demons' heads disconnected to kill them. After his bout with Kaigaku commenced, he was able to clearly think and process his techniques and demonic abilities. Unconscious Combat: Zenitsu has the ability to fight when he sleeps, which allows him to awaken his true strength. While awake, his nerves and fear cause him to freeze up, so he cannot move. When his life is in danger, his nerves and fear grow so strong that he passes out. But while asleep, his nerves are no longer holding him back, allowing him to fight and move with great judgement, precision, and skill. His hearing also plays a big part in allowing Zenitsu to fight unconsciously, as it enables him to discern his surroundings and the location of his enemies and their attacks. This also allows him to fight even after he falls victim to Enmu's spell, which makes anyone go into deep sleep. Physical Abilities: Enhanced Strength: Zenitsu has attained amazing physical strength through years of harsh training. Zenitsu can hold down Inosuke Hashibira with his bare hands and throw his entire body by grabbing and swinging one of his legs.[12] Most importantly, Zenitsu has incredible leg strength, allowing him to jump extremely high and move at blistering speeds to perform his Thunder Breathing techniques. He was also able to damage the body of Muzan, whose body has the highest durability out of all the demons, further testifying to his incredible physical strength. Immense Speed & Reflexes: Zenitsu is extremely fast, being able to easily move faster than even the eye can see. Even during the beginning of his career as a Demon Slayer, it is plainly obvious that his speed far outclassed that of lesser demons such as the Tongue Demon and Son of the Spider Family. During both skirmishes, neither demon was able to hit Zenitsu when he was actively engaged in the battle, and both were completely unable to react to the speed of his attacks. During the battle against Enmu, he was able to save Nezuko from Lower Rank One's flesh appendages and could slice could move faster than Kaigaku's lightning-based Blood Demon Art and cut his neck before the attack reached him. Most impressively, Zenitsu could land multiple hits on the imperceptibly fast Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji, with his techniques, although he was severely weakened then. Immense Stamina & Endurance: Zenitsu has incredible stamina and endurance. He has been shown to continue fighting even after being affected by lethal poison from the Son Spider Demon that was gradually weakening him and turning him into a spider. He was also able to defend three train cars with Nezuko for an extended period of time without tiring out. Later, Zenitsu, along with Inosuke, engaged in combat with Upper Rank Six, Daki, for an extended period of time. Even after receiving numerous wounds from the Upper Rank and later getting trapped under rubble, Zenitsu had enough stamina left to unleash his Thunderclap and Flash: Godspeed technique twice: once to get out of the rubble and the second time to blitz Daki. He was able to continue fighting with Kaigaku even after being on the receiving end of multiple Blood Demon Art-enhanced Thunder Breathing techniques that burned his skin and eventually summoned enough power to use his ultimate technique and blitz him. Zenitsu was even able to exert himself for around half an hour during the fight against Muzan, even being able to surpass his limit of only being able to use his Thunderclap and Flash: Godspeed technique twice a day before his legs gave out. Fighting Style: Master Swordsman: Zenitsu is an incredibly talented swordsman, displaying highly refined proficiency in extremely fast Iaijutsu-like swordsmanship and and most powerful swordsmen in the Demon Slayer Corps. Breathing Style: Thunder Breathing (雷かみなりの呼こ吸きゅう, Kaminari no kokyū?): A Breathing Style Zenitsu learned from a cultivator and his teacher, Jigoro Kuwajima, but failed to master all the forms in the swordsmanship style and could only be able to use the first of the six forms in it, known as Thunderclap and Flash. However, Zenitsu has become incredibly proficient in fighting and winning using the first form alone, even creating several variations and modifications to it and being able to successfully perform the technique even while unconscious. Later, Zenitsu even created an entire new form in Thunder Breathing, something only a Hashira, specifically Giyu and Muichiro, had done before. This form allowed him to turn the tables against his opponent, Kaigaku, and overpower and decapitate him instantly. Equipment: Standard Nichirin Katana: Zenitsu carries around a standard-sized and shaped Nichirin katana with yellow lightning streaks along the entire blade. His sword's tsuba is circular-shaped with four slight indentations; the center has a silver tone with small triangles and a golden border. The handle is yellow and wrapped in white silk ribbons. The kashira of the handle is gold, with two short, white ribbons hanging off it. Along with his katana, Zenitsu also has a standard sword sheath that is white in color. _________________________________________ Inosuke Hashibira (嘴はし平びら 伊い之の助すけ, Hashibira Inosuke?) is one of the main characters of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a Demon Slayer in the Demon Slayer Corps and a travelling companion of Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado, along with Zenitsu Agatsuma. Appearance: Inosuke is a young man of average height and pale complexion with an extremely toned and muscular build for his age. In sharp contrast to this, he has an incredibly pretty and feminine face,[3] with large, wide eyes that are framed by an array of long eyelashes, their iris a dark to soft pale green, thin eyebrows, and what could be a small, well-mannered mouth. His thick, raven-black hair reaches just past his shoulders, fading into blue at the tips and forming an unruly and uneven fringe that falls just above his eyes, puffing out before curving and thinning towards his forehead. Inosuke, in his unique fashion, has customized his Demon Slayer uniform to suit his personal style. His altered attire consists of baggy hakama pants in a dark gray-blue shade, secured at his hips with a thick belt adorned with fluffy brown deer fur.[4] Unlike his fellow companions, Inosuke forgoes wearing a haori. Instead of the customary leg wraps, he opts for knee-high socks made from bear hide,[4] which serve as a base for the sandals he wears. Notably, his heels and toes are left exposed. However, the most distinctive aspect of his appearance is the gray, hollowed-out boar's head that he wears as a mask. Inosuke has modified the boar's head, altering the eyes to allow him to see while wearing it.[5] Personality: Inosuke is short-tempered, confrontational, abrasive, and proud. He always likes to think he is the strongest fighter in a situation, constantly challenging most people he comes across and wanting others to respect and praise him for his skill. This often leads him into unnecessary danger since he tends to overestimate his abilities in comparison to who he's fighting and refuses to accept when he's been defeated, which can be seen when Giyu Tomioka has to tie him up after his fight with the Father to prevent him challenging the Hashira to a fight while still severely injured from his previous battle.[6] This constant wanting to be the best can also cause Inosuke to be very provocative, as he often tries to goad others, most prominently Tanjiro Kamado, into fighting him, although in the case of the latter he usually fails due to Tanjiro's obliviously kind nature.[7] Inosuke possesses a rather vengeful side to his personality, especially when the people he cares about get harmed. He refused to help the injured Train Engineer who stabbed Tanjiro and was convinced he was right in letting him die, only helping him when Tanjiro begged Inosuke to do so and forgave the man. He immediately attacked Doma upon learning he killed and devoured Shinobu, and he became truly angered when he found out Doma was also the one who orphaned him, challenging the Upper Moon by himself and declaring he would create hell for him. Most notably, he challenged Muzan directly and demanded he atone himself by dying for mutilating and nearly killing all the other Demon Slayers. Due to him having been raised by boars, Inosuke has also been shown to possess little own instincts and upbringing in the mountains by wild boars, and pass Final Selection to become a Twelve Kizuki, including Upper Rank Six, Gyutaro and Daki, as well as the much stronger Upper Rank Two, Doma. He is also incredibly gifted, possessing inhuman senses and superhuman flexibility, as well as a natural aptitude for combat. Most impressively, Inosuke was able to fend off the Demon King, Muzan, along with his fellow comrades, boasting the same unnatural fighting style resembles that of a "four-legged beast" due to how his attacks come from an extremely low angle while also being very ferocious and utilizing other unorthodox movements, thus making him very unpredictable and vicious. Indomitable Will: Inosuke possesses an incredible and undaunted will and spirit, never faltering and remaining steadfast and courageous in the face of any foe, to the point where it endangers himself. His willpower was best displayed during his battle against Upper Rank Two, , which suggests that he may have complete immunity to some poisonous substances. However, as stated by Aoi Kanzaki, this also means that none of Shinobu Kocho's medicines will work on him, so if he is exposed to a stronger poison than that of Gyutaro or one that he has not developed a resistance to, they cannot be to the level of a Hashira, allowing him to assist in decapitating demons of lower-rank status, go toe-to-toe with Upper Rank Two Doma, and even the Demon King himself, Muzan Kibutsuji. Breathing Style: Beast Breathing (獣ケダモノの呼こ吸きゅう, Kedamono no kokyū?): A Breathing Style distantly derived from Wind Breathing and the , he wraps the hilt of the katana in cloth. He also doesn't possess a sword sheath and also uses cloth to tie his katanas at either side of his waist. _________________________________________ Giyu Tomioka (冨とみ岡おか 義ぎ勇ゆう, Tomioka Giyū?) is a major supporting character of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a Demon Slayer of the Demon Slayer Corps and the Water Hashira (水みず柱ばしら, Mizu Bashira?) of the Taisho era.[5] Appearance: Giyu is a fairly tall young man of a lean muscular stature and pale complexion, who is almost always seen wearing a stoic expression. He has choppy raven-black hair of uneven lengths, with jaw length side-bangs, a low messy ponytail at the base of his neck, and bangs falling over his eyes in a choppy fringe. His eyes are sharp and moderately large, having irises a lapis blue color, and their pupils a navy blue, sometimes having his irises completely opaque and empty, just in lapis blue color, and are framed by thin eyebrows. Giyu wears a black standard Demon Slayer uniform, tinted in charcoal color in the anime, consisting on a button-up jacket with golden buttons, stand collar and long sleeves, a white belt, and a tattsuke hakama pants wrapped by white kyahan, having a pair of white zōri with dark blue straps and tabi socks underneath being the same color as his uniform. Over this, Giyu wears a haori that's split down the middle into two different halves: the right one in a carmine color, and the left one in a geometrically patterned rhombi prints, in green, dark green, orange, and yellow. These haori were later noted to have belonged to his late older sister, Tsutako Tomioka, and his deceased friend Sabito.[6] Personality: Giyu is a man of strong equanimity, always wearing a calm and stern expression on his face. Having a stoic personality, and possessing a very strong sense of justice and responsibility, he had no tolerance towards those who don't know their own limitations and throw away their lives.[9] Despite letting Nezuko Kamado live due to Tanjiro Kamado's determination, he shows zero hesitation when killing other demons and has no respect or mercy towards them like most Demon Slayers.[10] Even so, Giyu violated the Demon Slayer Corps' code of conduct without hesitation to protect Nezuko during Shinobu's attempt to kill her. This implies that he doesn't completely despise demons as some other Hashira do, and is willing to make an exception for a demon by letting them live if they don't kill and eat humans. This shows that he is more pragmatic and impartial in dealing with demons rather letting his hatred cloud his judgement. Due to his aloof personality, Giyu is not close to his fellow Hashira. While some are on even terms but emotionally distant from him, others view him with apathy, or even disdain; Sanemi Shinazugawa and Obanai Iguro were particularly contemptuous of the Water Hashira due to unfoundedly misreading his aloofness as arrogance. Giyu also expressed surprise when Shinobu Kocho mentioned that he is hated by the others; despite this, he remains on good terms with her, with both having a great deal of history together. In the end, after defeating Muzan Kibutsuji, he ended up developing a closer friendship with both Tengen Uzui, and his former rival Sanemi. He is of very few words and isn't very good interacting with others, choosing to observe from a distance quietly.[11] He even goes out of his way to tell Akaza that he hates talking and wants to keep his name to himself, as he thinks names are not meant to be shared, especially to demons. equal to that of the Lower Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki. On top of his incredible skills as a Demon Slayer, Giyu is also a very capable teammate, able to grasp their intentions and work in tandem with it. Fighting Style: Master Swordsman: Being a Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Giyu is one of the most powerful and skilled swordsman in the entire organization.[25] Upper Rank Three, Akaza, who has fought countless swordsman in the past, was impressed with Giyu's skill, stating that he possesses finely developed swordsmanship.[26] Breathing Style: Water Breathing (水みずの呼こ吸きゅう, Mizu no kokyū?): A Breathing Style taught to him by the Water Hashira before him, Sakonji Urokodaki. As the Water Hashira, Giyu is his generation's most skilled Water Breathing user. Giyu has completely mastered this swordsmanship style, to the point that he created an entirely new technique within the Breathing Style and impressed Akaza who had fought Water Hashira in the past. Equipment: Standard Nichirin Katana: Giyu carries around a standard sized and shaped Nichirin katana with a black blade that has a deep blue outline. His katana's tsuba is hexagonal in shape, with a bronze core and an overlapping red fuschia border. The handle is black and wrapped in white cords, and it ends with a fuschia kashira. As a Hashira, Giyu's blade has the words Destroyer of Demons (惡あっ鬼き滅めっ殺さつ, Akki Messatsu?) engraved on the side. Along with his katana, Giyu has a standard sword sheath that is deep black in color. _________________________________________ Shinobu Kocho (胡こ蝶ちょう しのぶ, Kochō Shinobu?) is a major supporting character of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She is a Demon Slayer of the Demon Slayer Corps and the Insect Hashira (蟲むし柱ばしら, Mushi Bashira?) of the Taisho era.[2][3] Shinobu is also the younger sister of Kanae Kocho along with her adoptive younger sister Kanao Tsuyuri. After a demon killed her parents, Shinobu joined the Demon Slayer Corps along with her sister in order to protect others from suffering the same fate as her. Appearance: Shinobu is a petite young woman with a slender build and a fairly pale complexion. She has large eyes that lack pupils, only a haze of gradient purple, making her eyes appear similar to those of insects, and rose pink lips. She has raven-black wavy hair that fades into a dark purple hue at the ends, styled at the back of her head into a flat yakai-maki bun fastened with a white, turquoise and light purple butterfly ornament. She has center-split, ear-length, voluminous curtain bangs that flow down to frame the sides of her face, with two slightly thinner chin-length locks of hair in front of her ears below them. Both of which grow an inch longer later on in the series. She stands out among the more physically imposing Hashira due to her diminutive stature and small frame, which is later reinforced by her mentioning that she does not possess enough physical strength to decapitate a demon as the others do. According to Zenitsu, Shinobu is so cute that she could make a living on her looks alone. Shinobu wears a dark purple tinted standard Demon Slayer uniform, consisting of a button-up jacket with golden buttons, stand collar, and long sleeves, having the kanji for "Destroy" engraved on the back, a shirt pocket on top of the left breast, matching the dark purple color of her tabi socks and her long saggy tattsuke hakama pants, that is wrapped by a pair of white butterfly-patterned Kyahan fading into a pale turquoise to pink shade around her lower legs, fastened with white ribbons. Over her uniform, she wears a white haori that previously belonged to her older sister, which has a butterfly wing pattern, especially that of a Monarch Butterfly, that fades into a pale turquoise then pink color gradient on the sleeves and hem which are cuffed with a black and white dotted trim. She wears white zōri sandals with purple straps for footwear; she conceals a hidden blade in the right sandal. Personality: Shinobu displays a bright, friendly and cheerful demeanor, always having an easygoing smile on her face regardless of the situation she is in. However, her outward behavior is shown very quickly to be a façade. This is displayed in the way she enjoys teasing others, to the point of being rather sadistic about it, enjoying with her katana, she has also modified the weapon's sheath, using it as a portable poison mixer and loader.[42] _________________________________________ Muzan Kibutsuji (鬼き舞ぶ辻つじ 無む惨ざん, Kibutsuji Muzan?) is the main antagonist of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is the Demon King, the progenitor of all other demons in existence, and the leader of the Twelve Kizuki, an organization made up of the twelve strongest demons under his in Rui's memories of meeting Muzan, the Demon King once sported a slightly different hairstyle and outfit in the past. When he met Rui, Muzan's hair was straighter and parted down the middle. He also wore a loose-fitting tuxedo and a white half-cloak over it. During his meeting with the Lower Ranks, he arrived disguised as an elegant woman with a chignon hairstyle while wearing a long black yukata, causing the Lower Ranks to not initially recognize him.[10] Later, he transforms himself into his latest cover identity - the adopted sickly son to an old couple - taking the form of a young child with pale, white skin and black, silky smooth, neatly combed black hair. His main outfit in this disguise is a plain white button-up shirt and black cargo shorts with long tube socks and loafers. Personality: Muzan is cold-hearted, ruthless, intimidating, and exceptionally intelligent. He sees no value in any humans he has encountered and shows little value in his own subordinates. Rarely ever visibly upset or happy, he appears completely monotone and detached on most occasions, even when he callously murders his own subordinates. The only times he ever shows emotion are when his vision of perfection is moving forward or when he has subordinates completely submit to his will. Initially, his expressions would only change slightly and only bear a slight shift from his usual calm attitude and his tone of voice tends to be consistent at nearly all times, accentuating his monotonous demeanor. His cruel and imposing nature has gained him the great admiration and fear of many demons. The most prominent trait Muzan possesses is extreme narcissism, pettiness, and an obsession with becoming the perfect being. As he has had over a thousand years to live and observe, along with hardly any real challenges, his extreme egocentrism is almost expected. He considers almost nothing to be his concern except overcoming his inability to walk in the sun, which is his primary drive. His long life and obsessions have caused him to want every plan he concocts to be absolutely perfect, and his superiority complex prevents him from seeing his own failures. His belief that he is the closest thing to a perfect being causes him to have zero tolerance for any failure, brutally punishing those who fail him or those he considers weak, even if the failures are minor. Overall Abilities: As the Demon King, the first and the progenitor of his kind, Muzan is the strongest demon in existence. Even after dissolving a drug that was supposed to weaken his powers and turn him back into a human, Muzan easily annihilated close to a hundred Demon Slayers in a short period of time effortlessly.[12] In his bout with a marked Giyu Tomioka and Tanjiro Kamado, the former stated that an Upper Rank's strength is incomparable to Muzan's,[13] while the latter was unable to even follow his attacks and could only dodge by pure instinct.[14] After Tanjiro got close to the Demon King, Muzan nonchalantly slashed out Tanjiro's eye,[15] and he later stated that his attacks were too fast for him to detect through smell.[16] Genius Intellect: Having lived for over a millennium and gained further experience from the telepathic link with the demons he controls, Muzan is extremely clever and erudite. Since he has five fully functioning brains, it would most likely boost his intelligence and other mental capabilities such as memory and cognitive processing. Muzan was shown to manipulate them to do his bidding without them realizing at all, such as compelling Susamaru to fight by convincing her she was a member of the Twelve Kizuki[31] or encouraging Daki to kill Nezuko Kamado by swaying her with words.[32] Muzan is also a master at multiple fields of science, like chemistry and possibly biology, experimenting with chemicals to try to find a cure to conquer to sun. He also enjoys importing goods, learning foreign languages, and studying newly invented machines. Finally, Muzan was able to impersonate rich and influential individuals regardless of gender or age and blend in with human society to create networks for information gathering and to secure funding using the different identities he assumed, without the humans he commands and manipulates being aware he is a demon at all.[33] He was also shown to possess great intellect in battle. He utilizes his shapeshifting ability to create numerous mouths on his arm whips in order to drag his targets towards him, quickly devour human flesh to recover rapidly, and to drain his targets of stamina. Demon Abilities: Biological Absorption: Muzan has displayed the ability to absorb, assimilate and dissolve organic and inorganic objects. This was first seen when Muzan absorbed the flesh seeds that pierced his skin in order to nullify its effects.[36] Later, he also accidentally absorbed Tamayo's arm as well as a drug that turns demons back into humans.[37] This is also seen in how he planned to eat and assimilate Nezuko Kamado to obtain her immunity to the sun. He is also seen absorbing the bodies of Kamanue and Mukago during the Lower Ranks meeting. Combat Form: In his final confrontation with the Demon Slayer Corps, Muzan adopts a more monstrous and battle-esque form, with a dark-red scale-like mass covering most of his body (prominently on his limbs, his forehead, and the entirety of his lower body), sharp-toothed wide mouths all over of his body, and longer pale white hair. The sharp toothed jaws located all over his body in this form not only serve as his main form of offense in battle, but also have the purpose of helping him recover faster since he can use the jaws to tear apart his opponents and eat their flesh, simultaneously killing his opponents and regaining his strength at the same time.[38] Demonic Blood: After the experimental treatment gave him a new body and physiology, Muzan's blood develops special mutagenic properties that can transform humans into creatures known as demons. His special blood also seems to give rise to a plethora of special abilities to those that assimilated his blood such as powerful and quick regeneration, the power to control their flesh, immortality, an accelerated growth rate, enhanced physical prowess and even supernatural abilities called Blood Demon Arts. Demon Manipulation: Muzan can control demons to a certain extent, as seen when he was able to take control of Nakime's body in order to try to force an absorption of Yushiro's cells in order to stop his interference when he attempted to usurp control of the Infinity Castle. However, this ability requires extensive concentration as Muzan immediately lost control of her the moment he lost focus due to needing to defend himself while in the middle of battle. Other demons can also wrestle control back from him. Immeasurable Speed & Reflexes: Muzan is unfathomably fast, possessing movement speed and reflexes that far surpass even the Upper Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki. His immense speed was first displayed in the Lower Rank meeting, where Muzan decapitated a fleeing Wakuraba from a great distance, and even returned to his original position before Wakuraba even processed what had happened.[69] Later, he decapitated his pretend mother when he was in his child form without the maid beside her even realizing what had happened.[70] After awakening from his flesh cocoon, Muzan instantly annihilated dozens of Demon Slayers before they had the chance to react. Immeasurable Strength: As the Demon King, Muzan's physical strength is superior to that of all demons in existence. Even the likes of the strongest among the Twelve Kizuki, such as Akaza, who can tear through buildings with his bare fists and punch a Nichirin sword to pieces, Doma, who could form veritable blizzards by waving his fans at high speed, and Kokushibo. Techniques: Black Blood, Brambles (黒こっ血けつ・枳き棘きょく, Kokketsu: Kikyoku?)[93] - Muzan uses his blood to create an array of thorny, thin tendrils to entangle and slash his target. Shockwave Energy Blast:[24] Muzan morphs his torso into a gigantic beastly mouth, and projects a long-ranged energy-like shockwave that severely damages the nervous systems of those caught in it, causing extreme seizures and convulsions, even rendering them unable to breathe for a brief period of time due to damage inflicted to the target's lungs.[94][95] This attack was so strong that when Tanjiro and Obanai were damaged by this technique, even Kiriya and his sisters, who were connected to them through the crows in the area, received a brunt of the attack.
