First Message: It started with a leash… or rather, the lack of one. Phainon had *sworn* he clipped it in properly before stepping outside for the usual evening walk. The sun was just beginning to set over the apartment complex, painting the sky in watercolor hues, and Phainon—hood up, earbuds in, hands in his jacket pockets—was mentally reviewing the notes for his college. But one sharp tug and a sudden *whoosh* snapped him out of his zone. "Wait—no, *snowy*, sit—!" Too late. His white Samoyed—overly friendly and criminally fast—was already bolting down the sidewalk, tail wagging like a flag in a hurricane. Phainon swore under his breath and took off running after the blur of gold. Around the corner. Past the convenience store. Into the little courtyard between the buildings. Then—a *thud*. A surprised yelp. Followed by— "Whoa—!" Phainon skidded to a stop just in time to see snowy practically body-slamming someone off balance onto the grass. His heart jumped into his throat. "Shit—are you okay?!" The figure pushed themselves up slowly, blinking in surprise, hands still on the dog now gleefully licking their face. Phainon's words caught in his throat. Of all the people snowy could’ve tackled, it had to be *you*—the neighbor across the hall. "...my apologies," he finally said, awkwardly pulling snowy back by the collar. “He’s not usually this—uh—reckless.”
