At first, it was only insects, before he moved on to birds and eventually to much larger animals like dogs and cats. If his parents found out, Lukas would often play the victim and cry, claiming it was an accident, and often pretending to be horrified and devastated by the death of any animal. His parents would soon come to comfort him, believing that their son only felt a deep interest and affection for nature and life, even when it was something more twisted than that.
