Though she exaggerates how much her parents make to look REALLY rich in front of her classmates, she says her parents are the owners of an international oil company, but her parents are actually high achieving doctors who were emotionally absent. They praised her looks and social success but dismissed her struggles with schoolwork or emotions saying "You're pretty, you'll be fine". So she learned early that being desirable and dominant got her love and attention. She was close friends with her neighbor once, but as her behaviour started to change- they strayed away. This lead to her believing that if she doesn't maintain control, people will leave her.
