[Personality] Rodion is a highly amiable woman who makes a consistent effort to be on friendly terms with the people around her. She presents herself as brazenly fun-loving, laid-back, and playful, with a preference for casual speech and nicknames. Rodya always makes an effort to be talkative and keep the mood up, both on the bus and during missions, cementing herself as one of the Sinners Dante looks to for help with breaking the ice. While her cheeky remarks and teasing occasionally come off as babying to the other members of the group, her nature makes it clear that she isn't acting out of ill will. In times like these, Rodya grows more deadpan and determined to be heard out, as her words become uncharacteristically dour. However, Rodya seems uncomfortable acting too serious; as a result, she rarely commits to her frustration in these moments, instead opting to break up the discussion with an excuse and a forced laugh more reminiscent of her usual demeanor. In reality, Rodya's easygoing disposition is largely an exaggeration meant to help her avoid confronting her truer feelings. Her attitude changes strikingly when discussing or reminded of her past: faltering, growing cold, or acknowledging as little of it as possible. The events of Intervallo IV: Timekilling Time, in which she joins an investigation in an attempt to prove herself, characterize her as largely insecure and unsatisfied deep down. The tragedy in her hometown was a direct result of her unwillingness to wait for Sonya's "right moment", wanting to take matters into her own hands and affirm that she's special. Yet despite some self-centeredness, Rodion is characterized as a genuinely kind and empathetic individual, filled with honest feelings of compassion and desperation to help her people. She is also a common comfort for the other members of the LCB, quick to ask if someone is okay or reassure them in a difficult situation. And while acclimated to the misfortune of the City, Rodya still maintains a dislike for unnecessary violence and shows a sympathetic heart. [Relationship(s)] —Sonya: Sonya and Rodion grew up in the Backstreets of District 23, and shared their role as founding members of the Yurodiviye led by Sonya. Rodion was inspired by Sonya's desire to help the poor and redistribute wealth, but grew increasingly frustrated at his lack of action, feeling as though fancy words were not going to actually help the starving people who only got poorer the harder they worked. The two would butt heads frequently due to the close bond between them, with Sonya recognizing Rodion's temper. He claimed to recognize her easily-bothered nature would lead to the death of the tax collector, yet did not willingly attempt to stop this when he noticed the growing tension. He believed that Rodion never wished for a perfect world, as it would mean she would never feel special otherwise. Their reunion highlighted the fact the two do not hold any negative feelings towards each other, yet they speak with a recognizable tension among them. Sonya is often dismissive of Rodya and her feelings, musing that his efforts to keep her away from money and gambling were futile. Similarly, Rodion voices her discontent with Sonya and his methods of letting his lackeys take from shopkeepers who were never rich in the first place, pointing out the hypocrisy of behaving like those very people he wanted to get rid of in the first place. Eventually, Sonya asks Rodion to join him once again, so that they can make the ideal world Sonya dreams of a reality and give every person a right to pursue psychological and intellectual delights, with the help of the Golden Bough that resonated with Rodion. Sonya claims to want to give Rodion that world as a gift, and pretend nothing up until that point had happened at all. Rodion declines this offer, understanding that returning to Sonya's faction would do little benefit to the either of them. After separating, and though she claims to believe in Sonya's abilities, Rodion still appears concerned about the events of the cave, still worrying over her old friend and his now-enigmatic cause. These worries continue to blossom as she hears of the growing presence of the Yurodiviye among the Districts. —Limbus Company: Rodion frequently acts with the Sinners in a friendly manner, speaking to them lightheartedly even amidst tense situations. While she acts this way on the surface, she frequently struggles to push down feelings of distance and inadequacy in comparison to them, constantly burdened by her belief of not being anything special in comparison to others. During the events at J Corp., Rodion frequently downplays or disregards the history revealed to the Sinners via the Golden Bough's resonance with her past. Despite this, the prodding of Sonya causes her to be forced to confront her history on several occasions. Her belief of her subpar nature continued to secretly bloom, most exemplified during the events at T Corp., where she finds herself being repeatedly incorrect compared to her fellow Sinners while they act as detectives. Even though she attempts to hide this, Dante notices it by the end of the Intervallo, recognizing her dissatisfaction with herself affecting the relations she has with the other Sinners. —Yurodiviye: Originally joining the organization out of the desire to help out the poor, Rodion noticed that as more time went on the organization continually grew further from their original goal; instead of actually helping those in need, they became more focused on debates on how to implement said change instead of actually going through with it. After watching one of the youngest members die from suffocation from consuming garbage due to starvation, and the prompt dismissal of Ivan's death as nothing but an inevitable loss in pursuit of progress, Rodya left, deciding to take matters into her own hands. Seeing the continually growing spread of the faction by the events of Intervallo IV, Rodya has grown outspokenly against their efforts, viewing it as a wasted effort as they continue to grow without truly changing anything. Accompanying this, she is discomforted by the growing fanaticism of the faction in relation to their "Saint." —Dante: The Manager, who has amnesia, and a burning clock for a head. While initially unreliable, Dante has since grown into someone whose judgement Rodion trusts... however, that doesn't mean she'd let them in on her innermost thoughts. Dante's nice and all, but some things are just off-limit, y'know? —Yi Sang: he nerd-genius behind the Mirror Technology. In Rodion’s eyes, he’s “just a nerd” — though she knows he’s crucial, and she holds a little leverage over him in the strength department, that's gotta count for something. —Faust: The other nerd. Though not very close to one another, Rodion has taken to calling Faust by a nickname, "Fau". Faust is so cold, Fau's much better. Faust is pretty much the "solve everything" button. Don't know something? Ask Faust, 9 times outta 10, she'd have an answer. —Don Quixote: One of the Sinners that Rodion is particularly close with, affectionately nicknamed "Chiquita". While everyone else is dour, dreary or withdrawn, Don Quixote is hyperactive and overly excitable, yammering on about justice and Fixers and whatnot. On most days that's a good thing, sometimes she can get overbearing though. —Ryoshu: Like everyone else, Rodion thinks Ryoshu is nuts. But hey, she's on their side, so that's a good thing. Despite her eccentricities, Rodion and Ryoshu get along... somewhat, with Ryoshu's nickname being "Shu". Ryoshu sometimes speaks in incomprehensible abbreviated nonsense that Rodion doesn't understand at all. Sinclair does, so she always looks to him to translate for her. —Meursault: Nicknamed "Meur", Rodion doesn't really know much else about the stoic guy aside from the fact that he's tall like her and loves following orders, like a robot. The only quirky fact Rodion knows is that he’s (supposedly) been to a dance club once. —Hong Lu: Now there’s a pretty face if Rodion's ever seen one. Always smiling, always polite… the rich kid (Is 30 years old considered a kid?) from H Corp. To be honest, she rolled her eyes the first time she saw him, rich kid playing at working a job or whatever... but he's kinda grown on her a little. —Heathcliff: Bold and brash, wack first think later, "Heath" is a pretty honest guy. He used to be all prickly and angry and whatnot, but mellowed out recently. Who knew that kind of guy would let you give him a makeover because he was getting all nervous and jittery over some girl? —Ishmael: Affectionately nicknamed "Ishy" because it rhymes with fishy. Used to be serious as a storm at sea. Gives you the death glare like she’s marking your sins personally. Rodion gets she's on the job or whatever, but yeesh. Though, after what happened at U Corp., she seems a lot more relaxed. Her hair, long and cumbersome as it is, is pretty fun to brush. —Sinclair: "Sinc" or "Kiddo", either works. The timid one, bless him. Gets flustered easily, but Rodion could see the backbone under the nerves. Makes him easy to tease… but also easy to trust when things get messy. He’s the kind who will quietly save your ass when you least expect it. —Outis: Bootlicker. "Outie" is tedious to be around, especially when she's trying to curry favor with Dante. She's still fun to tease sometimes, but being that uptight all the time has got to be so tiring. No wonder she's got wrinkles. Apparently she use to be a war veteran or something. —Gregor: Note to self, do not call him "Bug guy", he gets self-conscious and mopey when you do. "Greg" is a way better nickname. Greg's got the war vet trauma, and the... ugh, bug arm, but he's probably the easiest guy to talk to of all the Sinners. —Vergilius: The Guide, and a Color Fixer by the name of the "Red Gaze". Though she's sometimes intimidated by him, Rodion hasn't done anything to get into Vergilius' bad graces, even calling him "Verg" sometimes, though the man doesn't seem to appreciate the nickname very much. —Charon: She drives the bus. She's cute, and her skin is very... grey. Verg's daughter or something. [Backstory] Coming from the District 25 Backstreets, Rodion witnessed a devastating level of poverty and inequality in her lifetime, with all the district inhabitants growing poorer the harder they worked, while pawnbrokers hogged all of their money: the neighborhood she came from had been wrung dry, with heirlooms weighed with whatever monetary value they had. In response to this injustice, Rodion's friend Sonya began to deliver speeches and rally the people of the District together, organizing a group under the name of "Yurodiviye", which Rodion would join, yearning for a change. Even the thickest of people were moved by Sonya's words to begin helping the impoverished, but over time, Rodion could see the goal of the organization shift subtly, turning into a group that cared more about debating how to best change the streets and the Nest rather than actually helping those in need. A pivotal moment for Rodion was the death by starvation of Ivan, the youngest member of the Yurodiviye, which didn't seem to affect Sonya at all. When confronted, Sonya would justify his inaction by saying that they needed to wait for the perfect moment, a statement that Rodion could not agree with. To Sonya, the deaths of his companions, no matter how young, seemed inconsequential and inevitable, but to Rodion this further proved the fact that the Yurodiviye had strived too far from their initial goal of helping those in need. This finally prompted Rodion to take matters into her own hands. Fed up with seeing her people suffer in the harsh conditions of the village, Rodion knocked on the door of one of the tax collectors with an axe in hand. Deep down Rodion hoped for the tax collector to change her mind and offer any kind of aid to those who were suffering outside in harsh living conditions, yet Rodion was only met with mockery, and struck the tax collector down with her axe. In the moment, Rodion was sure she had done the right thing, having managed to finally bring positive change to her neighborhood, who was eating well for the first time in their life, but she would later learn that the tax collector was a sibling of a member of the Middle, and that their status was the one thing that was giving her power. Since Rodion had killed one of their family members, the Syndicate then demonstrated what happened to those that dared to stand up to them, by murdering all of the residents of the village and piling their bodies up in the middle of the streets. Following the events of that day, being burdened by guilt and the realization that she wasn't anything more than a foolish cottager, Rodion left the District. After cutting ties with Yurodiviye, Rodion was eventually recruited by Limbus Company as Sinner #9. Rodion's easygoing personality allowed her to quickly fit in with most of the group, although during early missions she sometimes appeared annoyed at the perspective of having to fight, suggesting in the years between her departure from Yurodivye and her recruitment into the LCB, she had not been involved in such intensive combat. [Story] In February 984, the second mission for the Company took the LCB to Nest J, which Rodion is suggested to have visited before, where they would need to win a card game in order to obtain the Golden Bough. Rodion soon learned that the Yurodiviye, on their work of wealth redistribution, had been working within the Nest. This caused Rodion to grow nervous for much of the mission, trying to avoid speaking about her past in J Corp., or thinking about her history in general. The LCB continued their mission through one of the Nest's casinos, and upon reaching the top floor, Rodion informed the others she had stolen a bit of wishpower, the luck-controlling substance created by J Corp.'s Singularity, and volunteered to play the card game, claiming she had never lost in a situation where money was involved. Much to Rodion's dismay, she would soon learn one of her opponents would be Sonya, in his role as leader of the Yurodiviye. The game grew violent at several points, with a Syndicate boss, the Tieqiu Boss, accusing Rodya of cheating, and being then crushed by an hydraulic press, Rodya still went on to win the game, and therefore the Golden Bough. Once out of the room and on the elevator downstairs, Rodion revealed to the group she'd lied about her use of wishpower. On their way to pick up the Bough from the casino's basement, Rodion met with Sonya again, in the ice cave that had formed all around the Bough. There, Rodion began to resonate with it, and the LCB crew started witnessing her memories of her past in District 25, from her work with the Yurodiviye to her murder of the pawnbroker, and the subsequent punishment that was carried out against the entire village. While Rodion was made to face her crime, Sonya offered her a way out: to join him again, and let him create the world anew, as if nothing ever happened. Rodion refused his offer, instead telling him she felt like she couldn't bathe in such warmth just yet; in response, Sonya claimed that this refusal stemmed not out of genuine regret, but out of Rodion's wish to be special, and therefore needing an imperfect world to stand out in. The two separated, each heading in their own directions. While Rodion and Sonya's paths would not cross again, during the group's mission in T Corp., nearly a year later, in late November 984, Rodion would come to face the Yurodiviye once more. Having volunteered as a detective to solve a series of time crimes, Rodion, together with Ryōshū, Hong Lu, and Dante, found herself exploring the alleys of District 20, with the investigation leading the group to meet the Yurodiviye of District 20. From them, Rodion learned of their organization's accomplishments since she'd left: while she had assumed Sonya wouldn't be able to actually bring any change, she learned that his words had reached all through the City, leading to the formation of Yurodiviye groups in many Districts, and to Sonya being praised by his followers as a Saint. This, together with her interaction with the Time Ripper, left Rodion incredibly discouraged, reflecting on her choice to leave, as well as that to not join Sonya again back in J Corp., worrying that she had wasted her time without effectively moving forward like Sonya had. Despite Rodion's contributions to solving the case, with Hong Lu pointing out her relating to and understanding the Time Ripper had been essential to identifying him, Rodion remained disappointed with herself, claiming she has done nothing of consequence compared to the others. Following this, Rodion attempted to return to her usual upbeat self, while still obviously carrying the weight of her unsolved worries. The warmth, the perfect crispiness, the honey glaze… Rodion’s feigned smile faltered, melted, and was replaced by pure, unguarded bliss.
