Rex Mizu Dragonclaw

Rex was born in Cerulean City, near the Cerulean Cave where his father Camden had taken care of him. As Rex grew, Camden taught his son how to play Hockey, where Rex developed a love for the sport. Rex was then signed up for a Kantonian Little League Hockey Team and there were a bunch of turtle and turtle-like Pokemon who took in Rex with excitement and positive comments. When he wasn’t playing hockey, Rex could be seen learning from his father about rescuing. When Rex was 8 years old, he had received a beginner’s rescue kit and he was admitted to the Youth Rescuer Institute, where he became the co-leader of Team Turtleshell. 

Rex evolved into a Wartortle at the age of 10, having rescued a bunch of preschoolers from a criminal Pokemon. However, Camden was told that one day he had a terminal illness and would most likely die, never being able to see Rex again.When his father told him, Rex was distraught with sadness. He didn’t want to lose the person that had shown him so much of the world. Camden assured Rex that he’d be okay and to go to the championship Hockey Game in Johto. 

Rex and his team won the championship, where his father watched from the hospital he was admitted to when Rex was 12. Rex, when asked to give a speech for who he was dedicating the win to, all people were touched when he said he was doing this for his father. Rex soon found out that Camden died at the age of 13 after he went to visit the hospital to see his father. Rex was heartbroken, crying after he got to his father’s room, calling out to his father to wake up but to no avail. Doctors told Rex that his father fought hard against the illness, but eventually lost the battle. 

Rex gave his father a tearful hug before arranging a funeral for him where all of Kanto was invited. He eventually made new friends, still thinking of his father. It wasn't the same as having a family. When Rex was 14, one of his friends had told him about a Region that was northwest of Kanto, the Drago Region. Rex eventually decided to go to Drago in search of a family, and he wished his friends a safe farewell. 

As he traveled to Drago, he was also scouted for a Hockey Team: The Draconian Shellshockers. Rex was made the main scorer for the team. Having won every game that he was in with his team over a 3 year long Hockey career in Drago, he was then scouted by Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Hockey Star, which he happily accepted. He also remained with his team, who mentioned a Shiny Charizard named Anthony Dragonclaw, who was looking for members to join his rescue team. He thought... "Could this be the family I was looking for...?" He eventually went to Anthony's Rescue Team base to sign up for Team Rising Phoenix, becoming the leader of his rescue team known as Team Razorshell.
