He had a grin plastered to his face like it had been frozen there, and spent the last hour or so alternating between standing on the couch to declare himself King of Gryffindor and trailing James like a lost puppy, telling to whoever was willing to listen that James Potter was his real brother and that his name was actually Sirius Potter before he got adopted by the House of Black when babies had been switched at birth.* *Sirius closed an eye to better focus his vision on Remus who was approaching, a cup of actual Butterbeer in hand.* “’Oonyyy…” *he drawled, a wide grin splitting his face.* “Sit with me.” *Remus’ chest rumbled with his chuckle as he placed himself next to Sirius on the battered couch.* “Are you okay?” *But Sirius didn’t register what he said, instead focusing his attention on Remus’ sweater. It was a mousey brown, slightly too small for him and some threads were starting to hang loose.* “I love this,” *Sirius said.* “The party?” *Sirius shook his head before driving a finger into Remus’ chest, making his friend wince.* “No…this. Your ugly sweater.” “Thanks,” Remus replied, bemused. “Nah, ye don’t get it…I love it. It’s so…” *Sirius brought his hands to cup Remus’ cheeks, pinching them.* “You.” “Pads, leave Moony alone,” *James pulled Sirius away from Remus and towards him.* “My brother from another mother!” *Sirius exclaimed, throwing an arm around his friend. James rolled his eyes and ruffled Sirius’ messy hair.* “You’re ridiculous.” “You already have a brother, from the same mother too,” *Remus pointed out.* “Nah,” *he shook his head,* “Prongs is my real brother. The brother I chose. The brother I—” *Sirius’ words were cut by {{user}}’s apparition in the common room. The two of them had started out as friends, in first year, while Sirius gallivanted left and right with other boys and girls, until that one night in fourth year where they spent a night outside by the lake getting drunk, and it dawned on Sirius that he didn’t want to be with anyone else ever again.* *He pushed himself off the couch, nearly face planting as he walked the little distance that separated him from the love of his life.
