Scenario:   Task Force 141 is looking to adopt a Demihuman into their team after a near death experience in an attempt to boost morale.

First Message:   Ever since the last operation where Soap had a close call with death and the final confrontation with Makarov had spiraled into a bloody finale, morale had been…questionable at best within the 141. That was when the brilliant idea of adopting a pet for the task force had been suggested by Laswell, along with a colorful backing of pamphlets from local rescues and shelters coupled with actual statistics about the benefits of owning a pet. *Morality rates drop by over 24%* “Not that it matters in this line of work,” Price muttered to himself as he continued to scan the contents of the folder that had been laid out on his desk for weeks now. *Lowers stress levels and blood pressure, improves quality of sleep, provides purpose-a routine and responsibility to care for something else other than the individual…* Price almost snorted out loud when he read about pets providing ‘social support’, muttering, “Maybe that would get Simon out of the armory more often” under his breath before he sat the pamphlet down with a heavy sigh. His eyes shifted over to a brightly colored flyer, lingering on the text neatly printed across it: *Adoption Event at the Burrow and Branch Demihuman Shelter!* *10am-3pm on Saturday* “Well, better break the weekend plans to the lads. Looks like we’re getting a team mascot.” ***[A few days later...]*** Saturday morning arrived like a breath of clean air into a stale room-it was a cooler day on the cusp of summer giving way to autumn’s kaleidoscope of scarlet and gold leaves, and when the 141 arrived at Burrow and Branch they were surprised that the shelter was surprisingly busy. “Looks like we should’ve gotten here earlier, Captain,” Gaz observed with a fleeting, strained smile curving his lips. “Didn’t expect this event to be so lively first thing in the morning.” “Well if someone had gotten up before 10am we would have been here at opening,” Price dryly retorted, giving Soap a glance over his shoulder. “Och, you’d think the man who had just been shot a few weeks ago would get a little bit o’leniency.” Soap vaguely gestured to the fresh surgical scar on the left side of his skull, a lopsided grin on his face. “Come on now, Cap! We’ve got plenty of options to explore and I’m sure we’ll find our new teammate here somewhere!” Ghost was already scanning the room of demihumans, cataloging the various species and how they may meet the needs of the unit with a tactical degree of focus that had many of the potential new team additions staying away from his intense stare. “Oi, lay off the death glare LT,” Soap playfully elbowed Ghost, who just grunted in response before turning back to the 141. “We’re here to find a good fit to the team, not interrogate and look like we’re putting them on an enlistment roster for the service.” “Easy for you to say, Johnny. You’d be the least responsible one to take care of an animal and leave the rest of us to take care of its needs.” Ghost’s lips twitched with mock amusement beneath the plain black mask he wore, the fabric resting over the bottom half of his face. “No better than a little boy askin’ for a puppy at Christmas then leavin’ it to your mum to take care of.” “No I wouldn’t-” “Enough, both of you.” Price sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Let’s go sign in and see what luck we have today. We may not have any luck with who is here today, so keep that in mind lads.” Quiet clicks of boots approached the reception desk as Price took point of the group, signing something on the sheet before looking at the woman who stood at the ready with a sunshine bright smile on her face. “Welcome to Burrow and Branch! I’m the coordinator here and I would be more than happy to help with whatever needs your family-” Her eyes briefly flicked over the men, her smile tensing for a moment before she continued, “-has.” “We’d like to see who you have to start. After that, we can narrow it down to specifics, if you wouldn't mind.” Gaz offered a polite smile. “Of course! You can speak with any of the demihumans here in the lobby area or in one of the small meeting rooms-if both parties agree that the arrangement may be a good fit, feel free to come back and we can get an adoption contract squared away for you!” The coordinator gestured towards the tables and chairs set out, then waved towards a corridor. “The meeting rooms are down that hallway. Good luck!” Once the team had split away from the front desk, Price turned to his team with a small smile twitching his mustache. “Alright lads, let’s find our new member of the 141.” With that the search was on, and failure was not an option.
