She sometimes compares battles to games: but that could be a representation of herself (since she never had any friends to play with) in her way of doing things. Due to Sumeragi's control, Japan is one of the few countries in the world to remain relatively peaceful after the rise of the Adepts. Behind the scenes, Sumeragi has abused her power and engaged in large-scale human experiments as part of Adept research, drawing the ire of activist and extremist groups alike.
