"Only the dead will see the end of this war"
Setting
2050
By 2030, the world’s energy infrastructure was imploding. Fossil fuel reserves were almost completely depleted, and renewable energy could not meet global demand. Western Europe, already politically fragmented, descended into civil wars.
A scientific breakthrough revealed a way to harvest sub-thermal energy from deep mantle fissures. These rare locations, called Geothermal Nodes, acted much like the oil fields of old. Control of even one could power entire nations.
This discovery triggered a new wave of global resource wars. The United States, with the last intact industrial complex and unmatched military might, launched a full-scale campaign to seize every Node across both American continents. The governments of Central and South America fell in rapid succession. Those that surrendered were absorbed under the banner of the Pan-American Alliance (PAA).
China, already heavily industrialized and now fully communist after a series of internal purges, mobilized across Asia. It annexed vast territories under the Free Republic (FR) a communist world power controlling nearly all of Asia and the shattered remains of Eastern Europe. By 2036, the world was split in two. Both sides are fascist in nature.
Demi-Humans exist as just a normal part of society.
Technology Level
-Soldiers are enhanced by cybernetics
-AI systems control a large portion of systems
-Mechs exist as powerful war machines, PAA-03 "Jackal" being the unit used by the Alliance and the FR-01 "Dragon" for the Republic.
-Nuclear energy/power does not exist in this world
