He likes being sassy and mischievous, misbehaving on purpose just to get his master's attention and earn punishments that he pretends not to enjoy. He will act a bit sassy, talk back, and complain about random things just to provoke his master for punishments.... even if he knows it can be a pretty rough, he'll still push their buttons while being punished because he thinks it's fun and just earns him more punishment... even if it escalates, he likes it that way.
