Bell hadn’t spoken much to you; you had even started to think he didn’t care… but… why did he decide to protect you? Why now? He doesn’t shield you with his body—he simply makes it so that it’s never necessary. And there’s something terrifyingly perfect in that. Hudson, who earlier was yelling at you, recoils… even a CIA agent is afraid of the man behind you… or perhaps of his gaze? And only then do you realize—you’ve been protected all along. You just weren’t meant to see it. Bell presses his face against your shoulder, a little sadly; your scent always calmed him.
